Since we have about 10" of snow on the way tomorrow, I thought I would make something up quick that I can push the snow with. i have been using my 5" rear Kioti blade but that thing is a pain to use. the blade is either to high or to low. Im going to make a set of feet for the rear blade one of these days and that will solve the rear blade issue.

anyways, I had a piece of stainless laying around for a few years now and had an idea. I went to my local metal shop had him make a few bends, then I had him cut me some pieces of 1" angle, brought it home and in about 2 hours it was done. Its hard to see in the pic, but behind the metal is a piece of 3/4 plywood.

Hope my effort pays off. I will find out tomorrow

It'll be interesting to see how it works. May I suggest cutting off the sharp corners. They look like they'd hurt ha. I suspect the bottoms will not last long anyway.

Post pictures for us all to see!

I was going to get some auto door edge trim to put around the top of the metal, it is rather sharp, but it will work for now

All I use for snow is my rear blade and FEL. I like the combo alot. I take my toothbar off before using the fel for snow removal.

I like your new plow, hope it works for you. I know that wet snow and sufficient tractor speed will tend to make the rear blade wiggle in funny ways.

the rear blade problem is our 3/4 mile long driveway is gravel, if its to low it tears up BIG chunks of gravel and dirt, to high, no snow removal, as the tractor goes over highs and low in gravel so does the blade. When I make a set of feet for it then I can just drop the blade/feet on the gravel and let it ride, for now this was a good way to get some tinker time in

Why not angle the device so it pushes snow off to one side? Wouldn't that be useful for a long driveway?

It is angled about 2" for now, after I see how it works I will start tweaking it here and there

First, thanks for posting.
Second, good luck.

It's always good to see alternative ways of doing things.

I'd love to find a simple cheap way to get a front blade set up.

I'm leaning towards mounting up a truck plow blade with hyd. angle.

I hope your set up works well.
Should definately work better than the bucket alone.

I'll be interested in hearing how it worked in the white stuff.

I solved most of my rear blade agravation by pulling it with the blade reversed so that the concave curve of the blade is away from the direction of motion. I also adjust the top link so that the blade has maximum tilt. I usually pull it so that means that I make the top link long to push the three point connection down. It doesn't dig up my gravel that way and does a decent job of pushing the snow off to the side when I angle it 30 or so degrees. Angling it causes one side to drop down so I have to use the adjustable side link to make it level again. I do that in the garage so that I'm sure that I have it level before I start out.

Thanks for the post. I have an idea for a plow for the FEL and would love to see pics of how yours works. How thick is the SS? I worry it looks a bit thin for pushing snow but the way it is mounted is interesting.

What I'm hoping to do is take a 6 foot John Deere snowplow that I got at an auction (I think it was from a Gator) and mod it to the FEL. But if yours works, it gives me other ideas for "wings" and so on.

I will watch this post for future developments....
