My Grapple just got delivered

Gonna be a long day waiting for the work day to be over. Just seen on the security cam that my Homestead Implement 55" Pinnacle grapple was delivered a few minutes ago. Can't wait to put it to work!

I was just reflecting yesterday that I'm really happy with my Homestead grapple (55" pinnacle) that I've had for 3 years now.

With all the grapple threads, debates about grade of steel, angle iron vs schedule 80 pipe, etc. I've put mine through the paces, moving a lot of large stumps where I can't get an ideal/solid hold on it and have not bent a tooth or anything else. It's a solid piece of equipment.

We had a lot of trees (12-24" dbh) pulled when our septic system was put in -- only the septic company can do that work in the designated septic field in our county -- and had them set the cherry and dogwood trees to the side so we could cut them up as firewood (they burned the rest). Didn't fully grasp the volume of trees we'd have..it's going on a year-long project to limb and buck up the trees, cut and burn the stumps, etc. The grapple has gotten a TON of use through all this with zero issues.

Enjoy! Not a Homestead, but my grapple gets used more than the bucket. Earlier this week I moved loam from an old stump dump back into my garden.



Tomorrow I will use the grapple to rake the stray roots and branches out of it, flatten and smooth it with my back blade and run the tiller over it.

I've had my grapple eleven years. Dealer installed the grapple and WR Long third function and I've not put the bucket back on since that time.

Something well worth considering. Modify your grill guard to protect from limbs, sticks and stobs. There are loads of threads/posts here on TBN showing what members have done. The very last thing you want to happen - your grill, radiator or battery gets damaged by something you picked up with your new grapple. This is what I had done.

I have 20 acres that got timbered right before we bought it last year. The prior owners and the timber company got into an argument and they kicked the loggers out. The loggers had almost everything they wanted already cut and laying on the ground where it still is. I could cut the rest of my life and not get it cleaned up. That's the reason I bought the grapple.

And nice saw you have there!

We did that a few years back. Sold a dozen trees and paid for a good portion of our new gravel driveway

I had my trees selectively logged eighteen years ago. This money was added to the pile necessary to purchase my Kubota.

It was a fun time. I got to drive the big 'ol skid loader. One loaded log truck got stuck. I drove the loader to unstick the log truck.

We all thought it was dry enough to log. It was - except for one low spot.

Eighteen years ago I had my Ford 1700. No grapple. It took weeks cleaning up and piling all the limbs from the tree harvest. Thank goodness my wife and son were here to help.

Ended up with about a half dozen piles of limbs. I was going to burn those piles - come winter. By the time I was prepared to burn, the quail had taken over the piles. We decided to leave the piles for the quail and all the other local wildlife. As these piles have "rotted down" - I move what is left into a couple central piles. One pile still remains.

I have been planning to do just that. The initial contract was for 94K in trees they were buying and they left more than half laying.

Don't forget about the headlight assembly. Those little buggers can be expensive too. Been there...
