My First YM2000

Amen Bro.

A friend said a tractor rollover was how his Dad became disabled. I'm convinced.

interesting ROPS on that clip tractor, forward of the driver. i believe one just behind you would be better BUT in saying that anything is better than nothing. i would never own or operate a tractor after putting mine on its side a few years ago while pulling huge poles out of the ground,it tipped over but i leapt over the side and scrambled away. if i had a belt on i think i would have had a few minor injuries compared to a bruised pride only  that certainly woke me up as to how easy it is to roll.

When i got my first Yanmar I made it a must to have it equipped with ROPS, fortunately that little YM169D had the factory ROPS and a seat belt. I never did roll it but I was always glad i had them as i did operate it on hills quite a bit.

Is that the Yanmar you got rid of? Nice looking machine; no wonder you miss it! Did you make a custom weight bracket/guard for the front?

Yea thats the one he sold. I think he just has the factory Yanmar/JD weights. As far as i know they just hang on the front bumper. I did not want to pay what folks are selling the weights for so i got a 3" pipe and filled it will lead, so i have about 180lb front weight bumper. One pipe is filled with lead the other is a 3" solid steel round stock. Just barly holds my front down when i have my "weighted" disk harrow on the back.

Clemson -- I like the sound of your weighted bumper. Can you post some pics? I keep struggling with how I want to add weight to mine. I can get by without it (and have been) but it would be better with it.

Here is a picture before i put the lead weighted 3" pipe on it. This is just with the 3" diameter solid steel bar. I have no idea what its for but a budy at a chip mill (for paper) got it roughed out the brackets with my measurements and quickly welded it up. Yes its a bit crooked, i have straigtened it a bit as there is slop in the holes. This single bar weighed about 80lbs give or take maybe. I noticed it but was not near enough. Im looking though my pics now to try and find another the way it is now. I know i have them. somewhere.

Yep, that's the one I sold. It was one sweet little tractor, i really miss that little machine. I did make the custom bracket, mainly to add a grill guard but then I did a little Modification to two 40 lb. weights and it allowed me to hang 5 out on the front if needed. It was a very maneuverable little tractor, I got it in some tight spots thanks to it's 40" width. I do love my John Deere skid steer but i defiantly want to have another Yanmar in the future.
