I have been trying to search on the internet, but can't find anything. I might not be using the correct search wording. But I was wondering if anyone has built a dump trailer using a scissor jack like the picture below.

Someone had a old 30ish Dodge truck for sale in my town recently, and the dump bed used a jack like the above, but of course it was much larger in size. I happen to have a very long acme threaded rod and nut,, you would probably have to custom make the jack so it would raise high enough. I thought the idea was a good one, and the setup I looked at on the truck looked like it was original/very old. You could even put a motor and gearbox on it if you wanted to.

Thanks to this thread, I've been researching building my own trailer when I stumbled across this.

I was up to $500 with axles, rims, tires and springs and had not even figured in the steel yet.

I wanted to make my own because I wanted it small enough to pull behind the tractor and yet still street legal.

I don't know that I could beat this

The tires are perfect. They keep the deck low,looks really nice to load.

I bought a jack like that with an electric motor for my lil dump trailer, long story short the **** things have no power when there all the way down (physics) they gain lift power towards as they go up, anyhow I messed up the plastic gears inside don't know where I can get replacements I do have pics of my setup and have modified my pivot points to take some weight off the jack, so if anyone knows where I can get replacement gears for these Chinese junkers chirp in
