sorry to hear about your Aunt. I lost a young friend to pancreatic cancer a few years back, took him in 6 months. I have been really frustrated this year as I have had to replant nearly all of my crops from the soil temp being too cold. Lesson learned for sure. I have been trying to figure out a good date to put out my tomatoes, but it's been cool here and we are nearly in june. The only thing that is thriving are the weeds. Your garden looks great compared to mine. I will post some pics if my replants grow.
Thanks. She was the best aunt a nephew could ask for. Always smiling, not a mean bone in her body. If you knew her you loved her. She was only in her late 50s, but a regular smoker.
About 3 weeks ago made a year that a close uncle (other side of my family) also died of lung / pancreatic cancer. From the time of diagnosis he lasted right at 6 months. A little under.
He retired from a chemical plant and was a heavy smoker for most of his life. He was in his late 50s. I had a great uncle die from a blood clot that went to his heart not long after he had surgery a few months ago. He was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer before he went in for surgery (not related to the cancer). He never knew he had the cancer though. Never made it out the hospital. But years ago he did have prostate cancer.
We used to NEVER hear of pancreatic cancer. But now it seems to be more and more common. Why?? I don't have the answer, but I have a few theories. Like a lot of people I guess.
I've had a great grandmother die of lung cancer many years ago who never smoked. My Momma's sister died of colon cancer and her husband died of lung cancer, who also never smoked. My momma was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer last year. Thank God she is in remission and is cancer free. It was caught early enough. My Momma's other sister had both cervical and breast cancer a few years back. She is also in remission.
There HAS TO BE a reason why it's called "Cancer Alley" where we live. Been nicknamed that far back as I remember. Probly before I was born.
So what's this say for me, my spouse, and our 19 month old son? Who knows, but I think the odds are against us to be frank.
I personally think it's something Erin Brockovich might wanna look into.
I apologize for the long post about that **** "C" word because it has nothing to do with a Garden. Guess I just wanted to vent or something. I don't know.
Good luck on your garden. I hope you have better luck than I have. Would love to see your pics.
