Yeah it sure does get sloppy! If you look at the pic I posted on the "tractor pictures" page, that same area my tractor is sitting is usually under about a foot of water during the spring thaw time.

Paul B -

Your "other tractor" is a fine looking rig.

Not much room for improvement, but I do have one suggestion (see attachment). /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv, you forgot the stickers on the side. I can't tell whether that's a B, L, or M series. Oh, I guess that's a J series./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My '70 CJ5 has a complete rear drawbar; most of the CJ series till '76. It is notched for PTO shaft. They made a hydraulic system for the rear, so you could have lift. The tank sat between the front seats in later setups. My brother-in-law as the PTO assembly for his CJ2A; it's set up to run a pto winch on the front. It's real easy to run a PTO off a mdl-18 transfer case.

There are a couple CJ7's running around the Sacramneto Ca area with back-hoes on them. I've seen them around over the last ten years doing odd trenching jobs.

Old projects never die -- in my case, they just never get finished. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Last year I bored y'all with my 100-foot stretch of muddy road that kept me from reaching most of my property last winter. I got some terrific advice from this board about how to build it up proper-like by laying down coarse and then fine crush after removing what I could of the organic stuff and laying down some geotextile road fabric.

I still intend to do just that, but since the ol' budget took a real header this year, I've had to put off buying the materials until (hopefully) next year. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif What I've done instead is scraped it down as best I could with the box blade and rippers, lowering the road bed about 8" to a foot. It's amazing how that gooey stuff turned into a concrete-like substance when it dried out. Remind me to attack it before it bakes out next time. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

My only hope for this winter is to divert as much of the runoff as possible from the road itself. To that end, I dug a shallow drainage trench from the low point of the road to a nearby creek. Would have done a better job, but I was using my Armstrong Oh-My-Aching Backhoe. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Not really looking for advice this time -- just sharing my meager tractor exploits. Pictures attached.

p.s. Winter can't seem to get going out here. Less than an inch of rain on the one day we had it. Dug out my long-sleeve shirts for a few days, then put them away again. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Harv, wish I could say that I enjoyed your pictures, but if its a .jpg file with the link, I have been unable to open any of them on TBN today.
Anyone else having that problem?
I've been getting the ol' HTTP 404 error. Now where have I run into that before? Time to go do some searching.

Go ahead and say it, Scruffy. Even the lie would make me feel good. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Attachments are working fine for me. Probably has nothing to do with Mac superiority (God, I'm asking for it /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif), since HTTP Error 404 (I think) means "Page Not Found".

Makes no sense to me. Have you re-booted lately? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Yes I have Harv! TBN is the only site I am getting this problem on. Beginning to wonder if a cookie is corrupted, but I can't see how that would effect the links to the jpg files.
Stranger things have been known to happen.
Yeah, I posted a message to Muhammad, and told him it was an HTTP 404 Error. I just ain't got a clue as to what the problem is....other than a nagging cookie suspicion.

Scruffy,

Working for me too; so I guess you're it! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Harv,

Nice work! Hope you get that built up again before the rain turns it back into goo...

The only one that works for me is the very last one Harv posted. The rest I get the HTTP 404 error on. Weird.
What makes it stranger, this is the only thread that is totally kinky to my computer. At this point. Nice Pictures Harv! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif There, I lied through my teeth on that one. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
P.S. - I'm sure they WERE nice pictures too Harv, just too bad I'm 86'd from viewing them! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Tell me about it. First rain and I am out chasing the chickens back into their coop. I sink ankle deep into the mud from where I have been leveling the yard. After looking at what 200+ pounds do to the area, I dont' even want to think about what a 2000 pound tractor would do to the area. I just about have the 1/4 inch per foot runoff I am aiming for but the uncompacted topsoil turns into mud so fast with so little water that is scary.

The govt pub on roads looks extremely useful, but I don't think anything is gonna help with unpacked topsoil.

Is the area between your culverts shaped, and if so, did you pack it afterwords? If not, you may be in the same shape I am of unpacked topsoil turning into slury at the slightest provocation.

p.s. long sleeve shirt? Wimp. I went out barefoot, shirtless an in shorts to chase them critters down. It was easier for the wife to hose me down after I caught them that way :(

p.p.s. so and I disagree. I thought we should leave the critters free to play in the rain or return to their coop as they choose. She insisted I chase them back to the coop. Anyone have any thoughts about fowls?

Scruffy...

Notice that this thread was started last year! I don't remember the exact story, but, all the old attachments are "unavailable"... You can see Harv's new photo, because it is new... I get 404 errors when trying to view Harv's original photos also.

I get the same with the photos.

Can only see Harv's new one.
