MS171 tune changes daily

I've muffler modded a number of saws and it's not given them lots more power or made them bounce off the rev limiter in the cut.

If you're really hitting the limiter (it can be hard to tell between that and four stroking) with the bar buried, it's probably the sharpening job on the chain not the depth gauges. A properly sharpened chain either self feeds into the wood or takes minimum pressure on the saw, and pulls out good sized chips (depending on the wood of course). If you're cutting little stuff then yea it's going to hit the limiter, that's normal.

I'll have to look up the rev limiter feature. I wonder what the rpm's are when the limiter kicks in. No limiters on any of my saws as far as I have noticed. All have muff mods and re-tuned. When I did the muffler mods all that was needed was about a 1/8 turn counterclockwise on my high screw and then adjust idle. Yours seems haunted.

A lot of modern saws have rev-limited ignition modules. It's not generally something advertised in the specs.
