Picked up a like new RCK60B-23BX mowing deck for my BX24 today, but it's missing the back half of the drive shaft. I've searched all over the net for the part number, assuming that the shaft is only sold as a complete unit. Does anybody have a part number? Also needing instructions for mounting this unit to my 24.

Thanks!

Looking in my parts manual, the part number you are looking for is K5371-32030. Check out the .pdf attachment with screenshots from the parts manual.

Here is one of many threads about installing the mower deck that may help you http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/171202-bx-deck-installation-dummies.html. I would suggest contacting your dealer or Messicks to purchase an owners manual.

Thanks! I did a practice install this evening...got it on with no instructions in 15 minutes (less the drive shaft).
Called all over creation looking for the PTO end of the shaft...nobody has them in stock. Just that half (buying individual pieces) was $349...buying the whole drive shaft assembly was $341 (go figure!) So I ordered the whole assembly.
So now my deal on a like new 60" MMM with 3 hours of use for $600 turned into a deal for $941.

Wish I could find a deal like that. Wait a minute, I did!
New boxblade, new post hole digger and 48" finishing mowre with 40 hours for $900.

But you still got a great deal!!

Does your BX24 have the additional bracing for the fender cracking issue? If it does be very careful putting the deck on and off. On mine there is a clearance issue with the additional bracing and you can bend the quick release pin if you aren't aware of it.

Take Care,

Glad the install worked out for you and that you got a great deal on a $2500 mower. Not everyone is as lucky as Deano!!

I've removed mine at least 20 times and just until recently, I now install/remove without glancing at my manual. I'm always worried that I missed a step and will screw something up. One piece of advice, when you get the PTO shaft, triple check that the collar end snaps onto the mid PTO. Needless to say, you don't want it coming off at 2500rpms.

Also, if you haven't done this already, make sure you check the gear oil level in the gear box. Remove the upper check plug on the side of the gear box to ensure some oil starts to seep out. There are 11 grease zerks IIRC. Hit each one with some good multi purpose grease.

Mower for Kubota BX 24 Tractor

I noticed the missing half of the drive shaft right away, and they guy told me that the other
half had been lost, but it was only around $30 to replace...right! :)

You still got a great deal. Some users that don't know what they are doing will pull the deck and leave the back half of the drive shaft on. I know this for a fact since I did it, and just wired it up out of the way. I felt like an idiot when I realized you just pulled the collar off and it came right off. You could see how it would be easy to lose the back half if you left it on the tractor.

New drive shaft arrived! I was able to install it easily without taking the mowing deck off of the tractor.
Engaging the mid PTO was a bit difficult (had never been engaged) but I got it.
My good old BX now mows!
