Mower Deck Stuck on Spindle

mrcaptainBob, I spoke to the dealers in my area and they all said to bang away, but you know, your input seams quit logical. I was thinking of pricing the parts I need to replace if I do it (cut it off). So I need to think on this one and see where the chips fall. It is definitely stuck on there pretty good.

Terry, I am going to try to move it forward a little this weekend ot later this week. I will do everything possible before using my dremel to cut it off. BTW one dealer said heat it up, then bang it. I dunno about that, and I really do not want to damage the PTO spindle.

Terry, the remaining metal collar is stuck on the spindle too. I will hit it with WD-40 again this week or Weekend and see how far I get. I plan to put some time into this weekend.

Jason, that is what I am hoping will work, lubrication and a rubber mallot - percussion-shock therapy

Is it possible to lock the spindle from rotating and then try and rotate the yoke with a wrench while tapping it back and forth?

Something one of the other posters said sounds like a possibility....could there be the 'remains' of the locking balls down in those holes? If they're jammed in there hard enough, I wonder if a nice titanium drill bit could get you a large enough hole that you could tap a screw extractor down in there and drag 'em out? (My wife just now looked over my shoulder and wondered why you don't do what 'I' do..."Bang-a-bang on it and 'talk' at it........")
