I've had 2 large rocks on the shoulder of our common driveway, that I've been needing to move for awhile now (how they got there is another story). Been reading here with interest, about stone boats, and I figured this was the best way of moving them, as they are too large for my loader to pick up.

So I took an old pallet, and nailed some 2x6s on the bottom, cut the leading edge so it would have a 45* lip, flipped each rock onto it, and drug them to their new resting place.

Attached pic is the first "victim".

Here's the second victim. The pallet is taking it's fair share of abuse.

Finally got the "twins" to their new resting place. The pallet made a great stone boat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think moving stone is the topic of the spring /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You have some beautiful land there (and the rocks are pretty nice as well).

jdgreg, Your post is just the inspiration I've been looking for. Here are a few pics of my building lot. We just put in the foundation Here are some of the rocks that were left over.

These are along the driveway. I see some serious landscaping ahead.

Jim, Thanks, and the camera thing, sometimes just not worth the effort. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Casco1, those arent rocks, those are freakin boulders!!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I would think you could get a stone quary to come in and haul them away, may cost a few bucks, but they should be able to use the material to make gravel, etc. Good luck!!
