It was around 8pm. A commotion on the porch. Opened the door - in waltzed two large coon dogs. They immediately went to the wood stove - lay down and went to sleep. They had large leather collars with brass ID tags.
Called the owner. He lived about 50 miles north of me. OK - he is on his way down to retrieve his dogs. He was cougar hunting and his two dogs got lost chasing a cougar.
I've always heard of cougars in this area. However - when the fellow arrived - still had a dead cougar in the bed of his pickup. Nose touched the front of the bed - hind feet touched the tailgate.
He had been hunting an area about five mile west of me. That's where he bagged this cougar. He hunts this area often and had bagged several there.
THAT is why I never wander my 80 acres at night!!!
