More 2210 Pics

Delivered this morning. Now with 2.1 hours.

I was very pleased with the quality of welding and design on the 5/16" bucket grab hooks and reinforcement. I dropped off a six-pack to the shop tech on my way out earlier tonight.

Managed to keep my 54" front plow moldboard and haggled for a hydraulic angling kit. Now I'm set with both a loader and front blade. Also ended up with two sets of tires, turfs and bars, as I mentioned in another thread. Added the stock rear halogen worklight for $35 with harness internal to the ROPs and switching integrated with on-board lights. Added mulching kit for the deck, and a 48" United box blade.

The quick-park loader design is pretty slick and I managed to get in some practice dropping it off and putting it back on a few times. Once I commit the sequence to memory, It should only take a couple of minutes. Here's a pic and a few more to follow.

Big Pete,

You got yourself a nice looking rig there. I have be thinking about chain hooks on my bucket also. I like the way you beefed them up. I was just going to weld a hook to a plate and then bolt it one but I think yours is a much stronger way to do it.

Full credit to the shop tech. My father is an engineer and I think it skips a generation. I know what I like when I see it, but would have never done that out of instinct. It's the kind of weld and support that adds rigidity to the upper lip even without the hooks. If I would have known he was going to do that, I would have had him drop a third reinforcement right in the middle of the bucket for good measure, general strength, and integrity.

It was dark when I finished up yesterday, and pouring rain on top of 20" of snow this morning. Not likely to get any pictures. I'll just be inside lamenting the trans fluid leak on my brand new baby... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif There's no drip with all of the pressure off. Looks like it's coming from the area around the toplink plate, the bottom of the gasket, perhaps. The dealer said to keep the fluids up and I could still use it but its heading back to the shop when the roads are clear.

Pete, Don't sweat the leak too much. My tractor had a small leak when it I got it too. Just check the fluid level B4 you start off, shouldn't be a problem.

The snow is just starting to fall here. Should make for a fun commute home /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif & Lots of tractor time /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll try to get some pics, but it will be a while b4 I post, as no digital camera.

How do you like the 2210 so far? I have been looking at one myself and would like to hear what new owners have to say about them.

I've been using a JD 445 around my 7,or so, acres for three years and this 2210 is just what the doctor ordered. Kubota's are not very well supported or marketed in my end of the state, so Deere's entry into the sub-compact arena was a blessing.

As you may have read in this group, and maybe another thread, I had a minor leak which seems to happen fairly frequently, no matter what tractor brand you buy. My dealer response was admirable.

The engine is very smooth and powerful. The Yanmar is a little smoky at start-up and the glow-plug system is a little different than other tracors I've seen. There is a deere recommendation out to help start-ups by first deliberatly turning the key to the start position while the PTO switch is on (interlock prevents start-up while glow plugs flare) , then shut the PTO switch off and it starts almost mmediately with very little smoke. Just a little idiosyncrasy. All indiactors suggest a block heater with this tractor. It's on my wish list.

The controls are very intuitive and I think the loader joystick is great, and more sensible than the BX...just an opinion. Another competitive edge over the BX is the 3-point size and geometry. The phrase "limited 3-point hitch" in the case of the 2210 simply means the smaller tractor wheels and subsequent lower height mean less transport draft for taller implements. The width of the arms and toplink height relative to the lift arms is the same as its big brothers.

I've only used the loader a little--playing, really, and the quick-park system is awesome. Before I sent it back for the leak, I put several hours on the tractor using the front blade pushing 20+ inches of snow with very little struggle; only the biggest drifts derailed my track, and I did not add any weight to the tracor for that work. The front blade on this tractor is a fantastic combination.

I guess can't comment on loader work or mowing with the 62C deck with mulching kit just yet, but I will. Here's a little snapshot showing the tractor with the blade on. I inadvertantly had the lift spread-eagled so you can see what I mean about the lift dimensions.

More later. I will also post about the outcome of the leak. Whatever parts and/or gaskets they needed had to be ordered, understandably because its a new model, so it should be back sometime in the next few days.

Bigpete, do you have two sets of tires for your 2210? The first picture you posted with the boxblade and FEL shows the tractor with turf tires. The latest picture with the front blade shows the tractor with ag tires.

One other question, what size is the boxblade in the first picture?

Yup', I have two sets. My extra 4PR rear bars from my trade-in 445 are the same part number as the bars on the 2210 so I kept them. I ordered the 2210 with turfs and a set of mounted front bars for an extra $200...eight mounted tires to work with for a variety of jobs. I think the full extra set of mounted tires would run somewhere around $600 if I didn't already have the rears.

The box blade is a United/Leinbach 48" HD model. Here's a another pic.

With the weather being so nasty each weekend I haven't been able to get out to buy the boxblade I intend to use as ballast for the FEL. In the interim I threaded my son's round weightlifting weights onto the hitch spreader rod that came with the tractor. You might be able to see this in the picture. </font>

That is one nice tractor and the mower removal, John Deere did beat out just about everybody in the removal and attaching the mower. My neighbor has one and he can take his mower off and back on before I can get mine off. I wished New Holland took some lessons there.

Have fun with the tractor and make sure you watch out for that little guy. He goal is to get on the tractor with you and he will sneek up just when your not watching.

It feels like the real deal, now doesn't it?

I'll just echo the "watch that kid" sentiment. My kids had never experienced the rage they saw out of me one day when they came back into the woods to play and I hadn't noticed them. They were still about 50 feet away, but they now know to stay 50 yards away until they get my attention. It's a good idea to make a deal with them that, while you are working on the tractor, they are to stand and wave until you wave back before getting any closer than a hundred feet. Of course you'll have to show them how far away that is, and practice it with them a few times. My rule is no kids in the yard when I'm mowing...period /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

That is a good system. The reason I said it was because of my own kids and how they always liked what daddy was doing. My daughter, 12 years old just loves the tractor, and the ATV. At 12 she mows our yard with the TC29D and the 72" MMM. Do I trust her on the hills? You betchya. She has gotten pretty good around the equipment. But at first I had to watch out for her because as soon as I started something, she found her way to me and I never knew she was around.

When I was real young, about 38 years ago my uncle came in from the field and I wanted my ride on the tractor. He stopped so he could back up, when he stopped I thought that was que to get on. He didn't even know I was there. Under the old John Deer A I went. Thank God not under the tire, just the axle.
