Ballast modifying wheel weights to fit

I just called my dealer and wheel weights for my tractor are $375 for two 200lb weights.

I have two 200 lb wheel weights laying around that were for my old tractor. They fit up against the wheel fine but the bolt holes don't line up. There are four bolt holes on the weights.

I was thinking of centering them on the wheel as best I can and drilling 4 holes to mount them. I think it will work fine but I guess I am just a bit leary of drilling in the wheels. Any reason not to do this?

Make you a plate with both sets of bolt holes. Then you won't have to worry as much as stress cracks.

You could also make an adapter bracket, that had 2 sets of holes.. on for the weight,.. and one for the rim.. a few lag bolts later and you'd be good.
