L4330
I've owned a L305 1987 for over 30 years , and up graded to a L4330 . Love the 4330 but don't understand why no 2 speed PTO, my snowblower is almost useless, and same with chipper. I can't believe I am the only one with these complaints. I would like to have 2 speeds again

In the '80s Kubota L345's had 2-speed pto's. The early L3 models had them but they became scarce in the 90's. They have recently made a bit of a comeback on bigger machines, offering a more fuel-efficient pto speed option. Some related reading here on adding it back to the '91-'97 Kubota L3 models.

Almost all JD tractors have 2 speed or Economy PTO and the larger ones offer 1000 RPM PTO. I know mine has both.

Not that iort matters ... but my Kubotga B2150s have a 2 sped PTO. One is 540rpm (not 640) and the other is 748rpm. I like th selectivity. I have the option of running the pto faster using the 748rpm , operate in 2nd gear instead of first and that way I run a little faster than nopw gear yet keep the mower blades at a near-std cutting speed. Very nice feature in my opinion.

I am curious about the 540 rpm setting since I though most trctors were 640rpm standard at rated engine rpm rather than 540...

Standard PTO fro all major brand tractors is 540 RPM. I've never heard of 640 unless that calculates to what economy PTO is and I don't think it does.

540 6 spline and 1000 rpm 21 spline is ASAE standard across all makes. That don't apply to a mid pto like Kubota has, diferent animal.

Help me out here. Why is your snowblower almost useless? Isn't it a 540 RPM snowblower? Doesn't your tractor have 540 RPM PTO?

Are you running your engine at approximately 2500 RPM or wherever the tach indicates that your PTO is turning close to 540 RMP?

Just trying to understand. I have a 7' snowblower and standard single 540 RPM PTO. It will throw snow 40' easily and plow through serious drifts.

You are correct Mr.Workinonit. I don't know how I got the 640 into memory. 540 is the norm.

Happens to me all the time. I'm hell bent on the "fact" that I'm right...until I find out I'm not.
