Had a 2002 Toyota Highlander; got it in like 2012 or so. Moms husband went to trade it in, and they offered $1000. He was so insulted he asked if I wanted it "Id rather give it away then take that offer". I drove it until late 2019, like 213k total miles, and brakes, tires, and thats about it. At the end, it needed brakes, tires, shocks/struts, and had started to use a bit of oil, and had a minor AC leak. To fix all that, would have been around $4,000; so rather then fix it, I gave it to my MIL. She drove it for around another 35k, before she gave it to someone else.
Point was, all the stupid little things just worked. Every little component just worked. It was boring, and far from as efficient as you would think for a small V6, in a small, light vehicle; but everything just worked, every time, for 2 decades.
Now, does a 2002 Toyota speak for a 2026 Toyota? No, not really. But, I have nothing bad to say of Toyota.
