Had a 2002 Toyota Highlander; got it in like 2012 or so. Moms husband went to trade it in, and they offered $1000. He was so insulted he asked if I wanted it "Id rather give it away then take that offer". I drove it until late 2019, like 213k total miles, and brakes, tires, and thats about it. At the end, it needed brakes, tires, shocks/struts, and had started to use a bit of oil, and had a minor AC leak. To fix all that, would have been around $4,000; so rather then fix it, I gave it to my MIL. She drove it for around another 35k, before she gave it to someone else.

Point was, all the stupid little things just worked. Every little component just worked. It was boring, and far from as efficient as you would think for a small V6, in a small, light vehicle; but everything just worked, every time, for 2 decades.

Now, does a 2002 Toyota speak for a 2026 Toyota? No, not really. But, I have nothing bad to say of Toyota.

I bought a 2017 GMC Acadia with 25,000 miles on it in 2020 for a work vehicle. It was a lease return. I put 50,000 miles on it in 3 years without any problems, just routine maintenance. Comfortable ride, easy to park in the hospital parking lots I went to, and plenty of room for me. When I retired, I traded it in on my 2024 Yukon Denali.

My 2022 rav4 hybrid is fantastic, definitely my favorite vehicle. It’s an xse with the sports package which gives it more power and tightens the suspension. It handles like a sports car, has more take off power and speed than most because of the electric motor torque and gets 41 miles per gallon in economy mode.
I'm sure that there are sports cars that don't handle well, but a 0-60 time of over seven seconds??

Even my lowly Durango is almost a second quicker than that, and it's definitely lacking in the Sport portion of SUV.

That's fast, to someone used to driving Toyotas. :p The Camry LE has always run 8.5 - 9.5 seconds, depending on year. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I guess I'm just too old...but who really gives a damn about how fast a car get from 0-60? Last time I cared about that stat was 60 years ago!

These days I worry more about congestion on the roads........................

If that's what a "road" is to you, then yeah... 0 - 60 mph times aren't going to matter.

You're lucky, that looks like beautiful country. I would miss the water, though!

Agree. I'm not a 0-60 person, instead preferring 60-120 runs.

It's kinder to the drivetrain and tires, and more in sync with normal driving for me, such as when passing someone.

And I have never timed a run, but still giggle whenever seeing the traction control light flicker at a 100.
