I have an old Massey Ferguson Model 39 8' disk. I was going to get rid of it, and I was wondering if $350 was in the ballpark of what it was worth? I moved it up north when I retired and will probably never use it here, 'cuz my property is all woods. What'cha think? Thanks for your time and trouble, Jerry.

Jerry,
I would give you $350 for your disk but do not have any way to pick it up. I live about 25 miles North of Mount Pleasant in Farwell. The $350 is a very good price and from the picture the disk looks in good condition.

Here is another view that shows the shape of the disks themselves.

If that disc is as good as it looks in the picture with no welds, busted bearings or broke blades, You are about $350 too cheap--Ken Sweet

Farwell, I live just west of exit 290[I75] in Vanderbilt. The disk frame is cracked in one place, and was like that when I got it about ten years ago. It has cat2 pins in it, but I have the original cat1's. I tore it apart into five parts when I moved it up here, and it would be easy to tear back apart. My JD would probably lift it with my boom, if you had a trailer big enough to handle it. It is a little over 8' by 6', and is pretty heavy. Contact me by email and I will give you my address if you want to run up and look at it.

Something like that with good bearings would sell for about $500 to $600 in my neck of the woods

I just sold a simular disc, albiet NOT Massey, in about he same condition. It was 7'-9", WITHOUT the scrapers yours has. I got $725 out of it. It sold 2 days after I stuck the for sale sign on it.

Maybe I will put an add in one of the trading papers up in this area for $500 OBO. I just want to get rid of it, not make a killing. Be good to see someone get some use from it. It's kind of too small for a farmer and too big for a littler tractor. I have a 51pto hp/+5000lb/13.9X28 tractor, and the disk is hard to pull in real loose sandy soil. Sure does a good job, though. Thanks for the replies. Enjoy your summer, Jerry.

Dave, sorry, I didn't notice this site used a little flashing icon to signify a message. I asumated that I would just get an email. I sent you the information you requested. They should make big flashing icon's for us older folk, or maybe a big hammer that protrudes from the screen and womps us one.

Jerry,

When ever I get a private message I also get an email stating that I have a private message on TBN.

IE;; "You have received a private message on the board at TractorByNet.com Discussion Forums. You can go to http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/login.php to view it."

You can set this up by going to your home and clicking on subscribe/unsubscribe edit tab and the very top item you click on yes.

Otherwise I would miss it also.

Jerry K,

Have to agree with the rest of the guys. My neck of the woods, this would bring about $700-800. Lookes at a used no-name two weeks ago. 6 ft. and nowhere near as clean, and they were asking. $400. I'd consider adding a few more bucks to your asking price.

It may look a little better in the pictures than it really is. I am going to try to get $500 out of her next spring. Are you down in that red clay, or is that north of you? My wife is from Holly Tree, Alabama, northwest of you. Poor farmers down there plant several times each spring, either get flooded out or drys up so hard it's like concrete. Been trying to teach her to say ' yes, Master' for over 30 years, it always seems to come out muttered more like 'yes, Bastar....'. Have a good one.
