slammer,
This isn't all that much of an update for I have really only used the mower maybe 4 / 5 times. It is still taking time to get used to how it steers. I have to re-think how I mow to account for the turnning abilities of the Lancer.
I have learned that with the way I have the seat set, the back of the seat extends just a little farther out then the rear of the mower. What that means to me is that if while turning, I am comfortable with my back and butt clearing the "whatever" obstacle then I know that the rear of the mower will clear it also.
It certainly seems to be well built for todays standards. We can All say that nothing is built like it used to be. The mower did not come with the seat that they showed in their pictures that I have. The seat that came on it, "in my opinion" isn't as nice. But, never having sat on a Lancer before or in one of their pictured seats, I can't back up my opinion with fact.
So. A seat is a seat and this seat works Just fine.
I will admit to being so comfortable with my old Scag walk behind that I Still like it as my primary mower and I know for a fact that I will keep it until it becomes financially foolish to keep putting money into it. I like that big 52" cut, I like the zero turn at the end of each run, ( the Lancer can't do this ) But I think the thing I like most is just getting out there and walking behind the thing. I am by nature a fast walking person and if I put that mower in 3rd gear it takes a quick pace to keep up with it. It can make for some fun, enjoyable excerise. If I am after more of some mental relaxation I just drop it down one gear and slow the pace down to where I can think while I walk.
Back to the Lancer. I would like to have seen the Manufacture install a grab handle to one or both of the fenders. If you turn sharply while at most forward speeds the mower kind of sling shoots your tail end around, it would be nice to have something to hold onto other then the steering wheel. Maybe even a seat belt would be benificial.
I am still perplexed and seemingly unimpressed with the fuel consumption. I can totaly fill the tank and I swear that after about 30 minutes of mowing the fuel guage is reading 1/4 tank. Now it may well that due to the guages design and the tanks design, which raises a question.
slammer, does it appear to you, that the entire black plactic portion, on the rear of the mower, is all fuel tank ? I have groped it and felt it and located where the fuel line enters the top of it and I am feeling like it is all fuel tank.
In general, I like the mower. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Am I used to it yet ? No !!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
But give me time, i'll get there. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
