Manual

Thank you Muhammad.
I think this is a very good idea, and with your help, I think we can have a truly useful "technicial, how to, specification, on-line" manual. What we have at present is really useful-we just need to make it better organized, and easier to find information. How do I become not a visitor? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PM Muhammad; looks you're stuck in an obsolete title system; which they can easily recitfy. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Just today, I noticed an announcement that a Snow-Trac forum is joining forces with a technical website. Much like I somehow imagined the online manual when it was proposed here. Somewhat paraphrasing (so I probably got it all wrong!):

They realized the technical site wasn't really set up well for discussions, and the forum couldn't present information in an orderly manner nor effectively contain high resolution photos.

The long term plan is that the techincal subjects will contain links to forum topics, and of course forum discussions could then use links to the techincal pages utilizing the photos and information already there.

It's still under construction, so the subheadings don't do anything yet, but I think it's a great looking site:

SnowTrac Technical Page

Of course, except maintanence, I'd think our catogories would be much different. The Design Chronology would be a great heading too, but I can imagine it being a bugger for us.

I'm thinking Funpilot's buddy list [as well as the owner list] would be better on the website than forum in thread format.

edit: Funpilot's term was mentor list; sounds much more technical than buddy list; sorry about that! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe this type of Web Site or something similar to it, is inevitable, and it will be a great asset to all of us. I do not see it taking anything away from this great forum. I’m sure it will still be as popular as ever. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I agree with MR, most PT sales are to Landscapers who don't have time to hang around these sites.
As to manuals, no commerical people are complaining, in fact I like the PT manual, just enough info but not to much which takes all day to find a part #.
You guys certainly have the right to post any photos or manuals you create, however I would be very hard pressed to put any stock in its value. Many of you have same models but made in different years with different components, thus creating confussion.
As to PT getting in a law suit over "no brakes"-- A brake is defined as a devise to convert kenetic energy to heat. PT does this as well as anyone, and also provides a positive parking brake. Just because a machine doesn't have a drum or disc with a friction device You can't say they do not have a brake. If this is the type of information you plan on putting in your manual I don't blame PT from running the other way.
Their sister company makes brakes for the mining industry, in fact is one of the largest mfgs of braking systems for that industry. Just because you don't agree with their system does not mean it is not safe.
I'm sure PT as any other manufacture is not a stranger to being sued, but the comments made here only makes things worse for the mfg, no way can PT endorse this or any other forum.
