Has anyone replaced one or both fuel filters on a BX-22 or equivalent? Per the maintenance schedule, they are to be "checked" at 200 hours which seems impractical. The plastic is not too clear! They only cost $5.00 each, and per the parts guy system bleeding will not be necessary. He said just let the fuel circulate awhile before starting and it will self-bleed. If anyone has done it, were any problems encountered? Perhaps the hoses should also be replaced as per the aging concern in the manual.

If checking is as much trouble as changing, then by all means, change it!

Remember, the filters are the only thing keeping the injection pump and injectors from going bad. You can change filters every year in the spring and early fall for 50 years and not spend as much as changing the injection pump.

Your call, but I change mine more than the manual calls for...

I also add PowerService diesel additive to raise cetane and provide extra lubrication.

Not a big deal to replace and bleeding is no problem. Remember there is one in the engine compartment and one under the tractor. Best to have the MMM off when you do the one under the tractor. You'll have them done in 10 minutes and fire it up 2 seconds later. Make sure you spend some time playing...working after, just to make sure you did it right!
