After sitting for about two months, I topped off my T25's fuel tank with about four gallons of diesel. However, the fuel gauge is still reading only half of a tank. When I unscrewed the filler cap, it appeared as though the tank had been under pressure. I saw a video of a TYM 224 that had a mud dauber nest in the fuel tank vent which prevented the fuel gauge from registering properly. The vent on the 224 is outside of the tractor's bodywork. After the nest was blown out, all was fine. That was great on a 224, but it appears that the fuel tank sending unit and integral vent on the T25 is buried underneath the fiberglass bodywork. After adding fuel, I could clearly see the level about at the level of the plastic filler insert, so if there is an air lock somewhere affecting the sending unit, I can't visualize it given the shape of the tank shown in the parts manual. The vent as shown in the manual appears to be integral with the top of the fuel sending unit. I have looked behind the left rear wheel and also at the rear of the tractor but I cannot see any way to visualize the sending unit or vent without, apparently raising the entire fiberglass body off of the tractor...not ideal.
Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, what was your solution? If I have to remove/raise the bodywork, then I will extend a hose/filter outside for easier access should the problem repeat itself.
Thanks in advance!
Kim
