Some of the fluids on my tractor were low as well the transmission portion was below the sight glass. I sure with shipping and air bubbles etc. That's why I try to always take a look it's just good habit I guess.
To add to the trainwreck this thread has become, here are the items in question out the manual. I wonder why you use the dipstick to check tranny fluid level if there is a sight glass?

Where is the dipstick? I looked all over for it - around rear, around seat, under floormat.
Its sad that I actually had to google where to put the engine oil. I would have never figured out to pry that cap off. First cap I've ever seen that didn't say "OIL" or have an oil symbol.
Maybe I need to slide the seat forward to see it? It is already nearly all the way forward, I didn't see a dipstick. Heck, I even looked all on top of the housing from the left, right, and rear trying to find something resembling a dipstick. I'll look again this evening.
So I don't know. Is there not a mahindra mechanic lurking around the forum somewhere? If so, could someone ask them to drop into this thread?
As far as the transmission screen not filtering small particles, my observation of the oil is just based on the likely 100 oil changes I've done in my lifetime between at least two dozen different vehicles. I've never seen oil out of an engine that varied color between the top and bottom of a container due to sediment that fell out after enough time passed. But, maybe trans fluid is different? I'm not sure why it would be, though. Filters are cheap compared to power steering and hyd pumps.
If anyone else following this thread doesn't know, the oil fill is on the left side and looks a lot to me like a car power steering unit. You have to take a screwdriver or the like and pry the cap off with that protruding arm. It is held closed by gravity and friction.

Lastly, I don't think I posted the worst side of the hyd screen.

If I don't add an inline filter of some sort I'll drain all the fluid, clean the magnet/screen, let the particles settle out the fluid, and refill at 100hrs.
So pip, would your feelings be at all hurt if I told you this thread has me pretty well convinced to never buy a Mahindra?![]()
