Machine Screw Tap Drill Info

Does anyone know where I can find tap drill info (soft and hard materials, close and free fit) for machine screws from 0000-160 through 00-90 and 0.5 through 1.0mm? I searched with Google and didn't find what I was looking for.

Try asking in one of the Machinists forums. One of the professionals there may have a link to something on line. However, the Machinery's Handbook 27th edition probably has that information. I don't have mine here right now or I would look for you.

Mornin Howard,
I just checked my Machinists Handbook " 19th Edition " a bit old and all I coild find is tap sizes to 1mm. I also got this chart fron Google but probablly not any help to you.

I guess Madrefs idea might be the ticket

The funny thing is I reached the same page - here was my process:

look in Mark's Mech Eng handbook - no dice
Look in Bosch Automotive handbook - no dice
look in MSC blue book - hmmm they are called minature screw threads - hit google and wala - newman's web page.

Just gotta ask Howard - what on earth are you making/fixing - watches???

Interesting. That thread style was adopted in 1958. The very old American Machinists Handbook I have with me was printed in 1955. I'll bet the newer Machinery's Handbook lists those thread types.

Thanks for the tips, guys. As Scotty knows, I dabble with model railroading stuff, and some of it gets very fine, especially for an old fellow with poor eyesight and the shakes.

Just as a reference, I finally got my 27th Edition of Machinery's Handbook back from my son. There are 6 pages in it containing everything you ever wanted to know about Unified National Miniature Screw Threads (UNM). Now if I could just get a bigger magnifying glass so I could read the tables in the Handbook.

Most fastener supply companys will give you a drill and decimal conversion chart if you ask them.
