The clutch pedal on my tractor was getting tight and was engaging near the top of the travel.
Today I made an adjustment to the free play.
The tractor operates much better with the clutch engaging much nearer to the floor.
It shifts better, no grinding, or unusual noises.
The issue I'm having is that once engaged the pedal does not immediately return to the original position.
It stays at the bottom of the free play area.
I can raise it to the correct position with my foot and it will stay there or if I leave it alone it will eventually correct itself as I'm driving along.
I sprayed all the areas of tension with white lithium grease.
There is a rather large spring right behind the pedal that might be stretched?
My question is: Is there a possibility I could damage something operating the tractor like this?
Thanks
rob

Traction clutch control pedal not fully rising to top of travel could possibly shorten life of the dry traction by not allowing pressure plate to apply designed pressure to the clutch plate. This will depend on how far from fully raised clutch pedal is after operators foot is removed from pedal.

It doesn't immediately raise beyond the bottom of the free play area which I think is set correctly.
I can pop it up with my toe or it will come up by itself after a little while.
If I adjust the free play out it raises all the way.

You need to replace the spring

You also need to lubricate thebecause you are operating it in a 'half clutch' position and it will ruin the disc in short order. The spring is cheap a new clutch isn't.

You also need to lubricate all the linkage.

Thanks for the info.
I'll order a spring and post back results.

Spring can be sourced at about any farm store, don't have to be a Kubota part. I'd be lubricating the linkage first (including the ball joints), I suspect it's more the linkage than the spring anyway.

Kubota specs for freeplay is 1-1/12" of movement from the top of the pedal travel to felt engagement.

I'll bet that 1-1/12'' is tricky to measure!!:p I'm guessing you meant 1-1/2''

Running it without the clutch pedal returned, will most likely cause premature throughout bearing wear...

Just like holding your foot on the clutch, it's does the same thing.

I thought most of these newer machines used a continuously running throw-out bearing ?

Oh boy is that an understatement ! I had a MF2660 brand new with dorked up [8 speed shuttle shift] clutch linkage such that the clutch pedal never fully came back up. That was made worse by a manufacturing defect where the pedal lever scraped against (and was impeded by) the underbelly of the console. I had no idea there was a problem and being brand new was still on a learning curve with it as well. Result was it burned out the clutch. The tractor had to be broken in half for a new clutch installation at 29 hours.
