Lubricity

This thread is dumb. Does it mean I'll only get 4000 hours out of my engine instead of 6000? I'm more concerned about meteor strikes and shark bites.

It means you may have upper cylinder and valves problems before "normal wear and tear".
Your choice whether to take some preventative action or just take your chances...

I hope to get 6,000 or more out of my little Kioti. I rather be smart than spend more money anytime.

Not dumb at all.Do a google search for the spicer report on lubricity. This was a independent study done buy Arlen spicer, very good report IMHO.I have run diesel additives in my diesel pickup, tractors & lawn mowers for the last 10 years with no issues or failures of any kind. Some folks call it snake oil,I call it peace of mind.coobie

There is no insight here, just calling it as I see it. You wanna waste your time on this go right ahead.

I have duplicated your results over that period with no additives.

My daily driver is a 1994 1/2 ton 6.5 turbo diesel Chevy. Designed before ULSD, I wouldn't think about running straight diesel. I blend TC-W3, a brand name cetane enhancer, and non-detergent 30W motor oil at a ratio of 100:1 with diesel. Yeah, it does drive the price up but this thing has been paid off for a long time and replacing it makes no sense if you look at all the brush scratches it bears from driving through oak tree stands. I wished I had a bio-diesel source nearby as I'd drop the "pre-mix".

Still, I'm surprised more manufacturers don't warn against additives when I hear about the bizarre things people combine with their fuel and the twisted reasoning behind it.
