Sorry for your loss, I know how lonely the house can feel, and the images that run through your mind. Hang in there and be happy you shared so many years with her, I am sure she was so happy to have found you!

I spent the wekend in the ER with our dog as well, he has epilepsy, and friday had one for 2 hours, his temp was 106 when we got him to the ER. make a long story short, we packed up and drove 3 hours to philly at left him at the PA state university hospital with neurologist. He's home now and recovering with a lot of meds.

Hang in there my friend, it takes time.

Here name was Gia...A 14 year Irish Setter. Gia and I did so much together. I can not describe the lost I feel for this dog. She was a blessing to me everyday but her last. I miss you girl..
I too feel your pain. Fourteen is a long life and Gia was probably ready for the next step. Sure does not ease the pain.

I also wish to pass on my condolences to you. Right now you are suffering the loss of Gia. It will get better. I've been where you're at a few times. Just try to remember all of the joy and love that you two shared in the fourteen years you had together.

I'm sorry for your loss,

We lost our beloved dachschund about a month ago, due to cancer. It hit very suddenly and it was tough on my wife, me, and our English Bulldog. A few days after our little friend died, our vet sent us this passage, signed by his whole office staff.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Wow....wouldn't that be an amazing thing to pass on to. Your mutt standing there waiting for you...Nothing will ever replace the love your dog gives to you. Unconditionaly.
I read a humorous line once,
Do you know the difference between locking your wife or your dog in the trunk of your car for a ride?
Your dog when let out will jump out kissing you.... :D

Now that is true love.

Oggie, Victoria, Maggie May & Annie have all preceeded me on their way to heaven. Some people say that dogs don't go to heaven. Well, if dogs don't go to heaven when they die I want to go where the dogs go when I die. I love my girls to this day. Some of them have been gone more than a decade. I hope I never get over the loss. Sometimes I'm lucky & dream of them, other times I'm truly blessed & actually hear them.
I love you girls.

14 Years is a long time.
I think that most of the dog owners here have experienced the loss and in the back of our minds we are dreading the next loss, subconsciously.
Perhaps you should look more at the 14 years together, take a deep breath and understand fully how fortunate you were to have Gia and Gia to have you. It was a great ride but like all rides it has to end sometime.
She's gone, had to go. Hard as it may be to bear the disappointment, the loss of her there stands only to mark the end of a great dog, just the end.
14 years is a long time, a long gift that you can be thankful for.

So, so sorry for your loss. My best pal is sitting next to me as he usually is, and one can take that for granted until it ends. Time heals all...

So sorry for your lose. A dog is always happy to see you no matter how he may feel, and will show it every time.

Remember. A man is no good with out a dog and a dog is no good with out a man. The two together are perfect. Alone their both incomplete and unhappy...
