Lost my best freind

I too am sorry for you loss. I lost my Rottweiler, Blue, who was like my son, about 20 years ago now. In my humble opinion, a dog can be just as important a spirit in your life as a human.

I understand your loss. two and half years ago I had to have our white English bull terrier put down. She was my constant companion and friend. I held her head and looked into her eyes as the lethal injection was given. Just before it took affect she licked my face then passed away. It devastated me...Even writing this brings tears to my eyes.
For 12 months I could not think about owning another dog. Then one day I was shown this little bundle of hair..that look like a cross between a fluffy rag and a baby goat...another white bull terrier.
He has been with me for 18 months.....will he replace my feelings for my original one.......NO.....I used to mistakenly call him by my first dog's name.
But he has personality and his own place in my heart.
The hurt will pass but the memories will stay with you forever. Enjoy the memories

So sorry for your loss. My suggestion, when you are ready, find a puppy and start a new chapter.
We cherish the 4 dogs who have gone on before us. Each was special and not replaceable. Ninana the loyal Malamute, Loki the talkative rescued Husky, Jake and Ellie the rescued and very challenging great dane/timberwolf hybrids. Each leaves us with a smile, a laugh, many stories and of course a tear or two.

Our Black Lab Angus will soon be four years old. Thank you Lord for bringing him into our life....

So sorry for your loss. As hard as it is to do get another dog as soon as you can. You almost feel guilty at first replacing you lost loved one but your best friend would want the best for you and that is to be happy not sad.

My wife and I couldn't have children so our pets are very special to us. We had to put down our female Chesapeake Bay Retreiver about seven years ago due to cancer and it tore my wife up. She was closest to her. It wasn't too long before we got another chessie named Ellie and she is my girl this time and even the thot of losing her one day tears me up.

My wife's cousin, with whom she was very close, passed away suddenly last year about this time and he had two male chessies, Colby and Saber, from the same breeder as ours. We took the two dogs as our own. Early Fall we had to put Saber, the older one, down. I think he missed his master so much he just didn't want to live anymore without him. My wife laid on the vet's floor with him as he got his needle, loving him as if she had him his entire life.

We had talked about getting another dog sometime so we would never be without one and we couldn't have gotten a better dog in Colby. He and our Ellie get along great.

There is a reading posted in our vet's office that says you think your heart is so full of love for your lost friend that you couldn't possibly love again then you see that puppy and you find there's room for one more.

God bless you and keep you until your next friend comes along.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our Golden Retriever last month. He would have turned 16 last week. When I come home from work I still half expect him to be behind the door waiting to greet me.

I am very sorry for the loss of your pup. It is very hard to let them go as they are part of the family.

I want to thank each of you for the kind words. I read every reply and all I can say is thank you for taking the time to offer your kindness. It is sincerely appreciated. I suffered great personal loss in my immediate family this year and Gia was all I had left. She meant more to me than even i knew. She was the last peice of what was and now it's just me and that my friends is a bitter pill to swallow. thank you all again.

I'm sorry to hear of your other loss also. I'm sure things will get better for you eventually. Like everything else, it takes time.

I don't know if you are religious or not, but I'll say a prayer for you.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It's amazing how attached we get to our four legged companions. Having lost two of my own over the years, I can sympathize with you.

There are thousands of heartbroken pups in the shelters around the country. If you find yourself up to it, check your local shelter, there may be a special one there.

I held ours as she passed to. It was very very hard. She was put to sleep also.

I love shelter and rescue dogs. They are the very best.

Sorry to hear.

Jake was my partner for 13 years and came every time I called until one day God took away my whistle and my friend. I wish I had them both back.
