Lost an hour to DST

One issue might be losing 1 hour of daylight in the morning for snow removal before kids and adults leave in the morning. The plows would just have to run lights more. Way back when we did an experiment and went DST all year and people DIDN'T like it. Interesting article:

The US Tried Permanent Daylight Saving Time in the '70s. People Hated It | Washingtonian (DC)
I found a way around that snow removal in the mornings.... I don't do it. It used to be required if you wanted to get out of the driveway, especially if the plow went by. However, we haven't had enough snow to require it in about a decade. I have 4wd in the Suburban, and the wife works from home now. The mother in-law is retired. So no one needs to get out of their houses anymore, so any shoveling/plowing that has to be done now waits until I get home from work. If they keep DST, I'll even have some sunlight after work to do it VS turning on the tractor lights.

Looks like the Senate passed a bill to get rid of Daylight savings. Next onto the House and Biden.

What you think is it real this time, is DST gone for good?

Looks like if it passes it will not take effect until Nov 2023.

What will I do without my extra hour of sleep in November. :ROFLMAO:
No. The senate passed the bill to make DST permanent year round.

Everyone's situation is different but I think I would lean towards permanent standard time vs permanent DST. Sure, this bill/vote happens right when people are having to go through the clock change and emotions are high. Should more thought be put into going permanent DST than emotions? Should we have discussions and studies BEFORE a vote?

Some people would enjoy an extra hour in the morning in the summer so they could bike/run/fish before work. It really depends on if people are morning people or late afternoon people and what their work hours are. I'm retired and have my own hours but am just looking at it from different angles.

Just goes to show you dairy farmers were looking for off-farm income 40-50 years ago.

It's funny you took the plight of the dairy farmer to rail against DST.

The county I live in is the farthest west in EST. In the summer it was light until 10:30-10:45pm if I remember correctly. 75 year old brain.
