kerry...
It sounds as if you are concerned about the condition of the deck spindle bearings or belt idlers. If that is so it is worth removing the deck belt to allow hand turning each blade and idler.
If you are getting it at a great price... you can check this all out at your leisure when you service it the first time.
449 hours is nothing on a good deck... KennyV.

Spindle bearings likely just from first thought. Easy to replace. I think the HP is 17 on the Kawasaki. Kawasaki has been bullet-proof for me for years on both the 14 and 17HP models. .

My Cub sounds like a hovercraft when the blades are engaged. It has a lot of suction.

Got me a 1527(for the wife heh, heh), absolutly love it---cruise control, cup holder, etc. Yeah it sounds like a hovercraft when deck is engaged but with hydro trans and mulching deck life is good!!!!! Make sure your blades are aligned tip to tip 90 degrees to direction of travel or vibration will drive you nuts---450 hours is barely broke in.
