A bomber hat, that is. I was clearing snow the other day on my little Kubota BX without a cab, and the wind was pretty stiff. At 72, I don't handle the cold as well as I once did. I got to thinking about a bomber hat that I once had, until my dog chewed it beyond use. I used to wear the hat when I did a lot of ice fishing, and it was the warmest hat ever. I got thinking that is what I need to wear when I'm clearing snow on the tractor. The one I had was made with a leather shell, and it had either fake or real rabbit fur inside. It was incredibly warm. I looked on line the other day to try and find one to order, and that's another story in itself. Just wondering if any of you guys wear that type of hat, and if so, where did you get it. A lot of the retailers on line look to be hoaxes. I'm not sure if this belongs on a tractor forum, but I figured a lot of guys here have to dress for winter weather, so here it is. Any reliable sources where I can find a good one is much appreciated.

Our local farm supply store carries these Carhartt hats for winter. Personally I prefer the Polartec fleece lined hat to the fake fur hat.

I will second the mad bomber brand suggestion. I have one of theirs with real rabbit fur and when I wear that I have no fear of a cold head.

Any Carhartt hat that covers ears. Warmest things I've found.

I like that Carhartt hat with the brim and face covering (the first in the post) but can't find it anywhere online. I like having the brim when snowblowing or walking or x-country skiing while it is snowing. The brim helps to keep the snow out of my eyes. I wear safety glasses while snowblowing to keep the snow out of my eyes, but still like having a brim also.

If anyone has a link to it or a name for it, please let me know.

Here's a link to one I found on line. But the price is atrocious.

I'll pass at that price :)

I did find some similar hats on amazon. Since this was a Carhartt, I was hoping to find it locally where I could try it on. Plus, I prefer buying stuff locally when I can

I think that the same type one I have that's a tight fit on my pumpkin! Got another one that's cloth and fluffy on inside. I'll get pics in am

I have a hat from "Mad Bomber" which I really like when temps get cold.
Mad Bomber hat
Yes, Mad Bomber was the brand that my yellow lab, Kelsey, thought she ought to tear apart. I think that's the brand I'll look into.

My go to is ski googles, when its really cold and windy I wear a thin balaclava, a neck warmer, a tuque with a hood on top of that and my googles on top of everything else.

for snow blowing my father used to wear a full face snowmobile helmet on his tractor I simply wear what I stated above.

Got my original at Cabelas number of years ago, best thing for plowing snow

These are my 2. The faux rabbit fur one if I remember correctly, I got that fr9m Sportsmans Guide. The other may have been TSC.

There are certainly times that I think "a cab would be nice". But most of the time I enjoy being "outside". Gearing up to go out can be cumbersome though.

The worst is when it has been snowing and it's turning to rain. I want to get the snow off before it gets soaked. So, I end up snowblowing in the rain. Yuck. A canopy would help that though.
