Going to look at a used 420 loader to put on my 4310. Anything in particular I should watch out for?

This looks decent in the pics sent but it's missing the bucket cylinders. It's reasonably priced so I plan to upgrade to 2" cylinders and make up all new hoses. That should beef it up to 430 specs.

Anybody know if the 4300 frame specs are the same as my 4310? I am assuming they are but I plan to make a bolt template and take some measurements before i go.

Both call for part # AW32281 for the 420 FEL on the 4300 and 4310, and look to be the same.

Boom twisted
Timing rod bent
Lack of greasing the pins, will look as if never greased
Incorrect parts; as in nails/wire/etc for pivot retain pins
Damaged hoses

Put a piece of straight pipe across the rear pins of the loader. Stand back and eyeball that pipe to the front cross member pipe. They should be very close to being even with each other. Again stand back and do the same across the top of the loader arms. They should also be relatively straight to each other. Same with the two arms that go down to the bottom of the bucket.

If they aren't straight to each other it's not the end of the world. I would just use that info to negotiate a lower price as these loaders are not hard to straighten out. I've done it more than once.

Looks straight enough. Quick disconnect bucket holes are worn and bucket cylinders missing. I was told about the cylinders beforehand so no surprise on those. Got it for $1200 so I should be okay on it. Price included all the frame mounts and the grill guard. I plan to upgrade all the cylinders to mimic the 430 capacities and height. I can cut and weld some bushings in the worn holes on the bucket.

It looks like it sit "straight" on your trailer. Nice find.
