Log splitter hydro filter replacement schedule

I built my splitter over 40 years ago with a 10hp cast iron tecumseh & a 22 gpm pump. I ran it 15~20 years & split hundreds of cord before the first filter change. I installed a large 30 or 40 gpm 10 micron return filter when I built it.
It was never left outside & oil was always clean (no moisture).
Being a relatively small closed hydraulic system with a filter/breather there are few areas wear particles can be generated.
Works for me.
