That cylinder looks huge.Probably needs a little bigger pump to make it run quicker. This reminds me of the first splitter I ever used.Had a V4 Wisconsin w/electric start,a pump from a state hwy truck, and a huge cylinder that would split 6" logs laid sideways(stand back!).It was so heavy you could only move it on hardstand,by hand.

It has a 4" piston and the outside diameter of the cylinder is 8". It could probably use a larger volume pump. given the length of the stroke, a two stage pump would probably be the ticket. Given that I always work with someone and it takes a little time to get the wood to be split on the splitter, it seems pretty close the right speed.

holy crap at 2500psi you're pushing 48 ton, strong old ugly splitter. I bet it never even flinches no matter what you put on it.

The only thing that flinches is the I - Beam and table when under stress. It seems to be willing to cut through any narley piece of wood.

Since it wasn't an engineered product, it runs how it runs - slowly. Anyway I have split a lot of wood with this ugly beast. ]

Well, I'm no oil painting either, so I've always had to get by on 'personality'... just like this ol' gal. She looks good to me.
