Buddy stopped over last night, had a few beers and ran some beads

Should put a drain in the bottom.
Ditto on that. That's where the water will accumulate. :) You should make it easy to change the oil and filter like any other piece of equipment.

I am planning on a drain, my suction strainer should be in Tommorow, hopefully have the tank welded up with all the fittings and pressure tested this weekend

Where are you sourcing parts from?

When I built my splitter, most of my hydraulic stuff, like the cylinder, strainer, return filter, pump, etc I got from splitez

The only things I really have to buy is the strainer and a valve eventually, I have a 3 spool I think I'm going to use for now jist to get things operational

Just need to add an end plate cut the 4 way tube down and weld the axle on

Just over 10 pounds of rod in this thing so far

Did you ever mention what size cylinder you would be using?

A potential weak spot I see is the cylinder base anchor/eyelet. Just surface welding to the top of the beam like that. Have seen several splitters rip off a connection like that. Welds were good, it rips out a chunk of beam with it.

I got some pointers from some good fabricators on here, and here is how I ended up attaching the 1" thick wedge and anchor block on my splitter.
