LO-Hi Lever Kills Engine

Own a Yamaha Terrapro for a number of years. This last spring when I was ready to run my brush hog attachment I put the Lo-Hi lever into High and it immediately killed the engine. So I tried to restart engine and ignition was acting like it was completely dead. So I tried from a start over, in neutral and on the high side, and without attachments and still acts dead. No local mechanic or dealer wants to tackle it so I need your help. . . Appreciate the help

Sounds like first guess would be some sort of safety interlock switch that is engaged, preventing the unit from starting.

Sounds like the neutral safety switch. Several friends with Yamaha quads has problems with them. It is located on the left side below the seat. I have seen a few that were temporarily "fixed" by simply tapping on them.

I believe it is a safety feature that if an attachment is attached to the Terrapro, the unit can only be ran in Lo gear. If shifted into High with the attachment attached the unit should die.

I am guessing that you have tried putting it back in Lo and then trying to start it?

That is what I was thinking too.
