Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I called Agri-Supply for any updates on my shipment of the Flail mower. They told me it shipped yesterday . Now to call the truck line and schedule a delivery time. I'm out of town in Burlington, NC and driving home tomorrow.

This is my first post. I have read this entire thread and now know that I need a flail mower. I was thinking of the betst 68". They are only about 50 miles form me, and it sounds like you can't beat them for the money. There is a guy with a 5 foot Mott Hammer Knife Mower on craigslist for $800, are these any good or should I just get the Bestst?

The Mott flails have a fine reputation. At $800, the one you are looking at is either an very good bargain or it is in need of revitalization.

They're still telling ME that the scheduled shipment should arrive on or about May 23rd.

That is a little odd but it may depend on where you live. And on the shipping company they use. When they shipped mine I had it in three days. Virginia to Vermont. About 600 miles.

Are they talking about shipping from Agri-Supply or to them from Italy?

I would check out the Mott if possible, however for the BETST, I would definitely check them out as you can see them first hand before you purchase, as you as so close, where I took a chance as they were new.

Chances are that they are BOTH "optimistic" conversions from metric, i.e. rounded UP to the next inch.

1.7m = 66.93 {68 is more than a bit optimistic}
1.9m = 74.80 inches {75 is a bit less optimistic}

Difference = 7.87 inches.

or (1.9 - 1.7) x 100/1.9 percent smaller
or (1.9 - 1.7) x 100/1.7 percent larger
according to how you chose to look at it.

I have been following this thread on and off, and was wondering which brand gave the most bang for the buck? Caroni?? We have a MF 1523, and the more I read the more I like the sound of flail over rotary.
