I have been looking at Leatherman multi-tools lately and was thinking I could probably get some feedback from some of you fella's who have owned them.
So, any Leatherman recommendations?
Thanks

I used to carry a leatherman surge. Lots of tools on it But that's really heavy. I found out that all i really need is pliers, cutters, knife, and a changeable, replaceable screwdriver. So I know carry a leatherman skeletool. I wont leave home without it. Plus it can clip to your pocket so you wont need to buy a sheath.

I carry the WAVE now. I can't remember the name, but the original leatherman I carried was the one that would cut into your hands if you really torqued down on the pliers. I have carried the WAVE for about 5 years or more and use it almost on a daily bases. I work in a steel mill and carry it at work everyday and use it almost every day. It has been great, dependable and stood up to alot of tasks. It still functions as if it were new, except some blade sharpening. I haven't looked lately to see what leatherman has to offer, but I guess I haven't found that I need to be looking for something different. I will have to look and see what the skeltool is, maybe I am missing something. The only time I don't carry my leatherman is when I have to dress up for something and my wife says no leave it home or at least in the car.

Good Luck ! :)

Edit: Just took a quick look at leatherman's site. My wave is old enough that it does not have the bit holders and maybe a few other small changes. Hmmm...Christmas is comming real soon?

one more for the wave, instead of sheath it fits in leg side pockets and doesnt seem to fall out like some of the other slimmer ones do. Am never without it, Of course my dress up pants are black carharts that I dont work in:D

i have carried in a pocket or on my belt, a letherman Crunch for years.( yes even when dressed up). It has always amazed people that i have a pair of "vise-grips" in my pocket when something needs to be fixed. the crunch has come to the rescue more times than i can count. I wont leave the house without it.

I have liked the Crunch from the start of looking at them but have been hesitant because of the limited amount of tools offered on it. If they offered the Crunch with the interchangeable screwdriver tips I would get it in a heart beat. Have you ever noticed a lack in the amount of tools on the Crunch.

I got Skeletool as a pocket knife for my hunting time and ended up carrying it most of the time. It is handy clipped on the pocket and works well enough for all I need round the house. I don't think you can go wrong with any Leatherman multitool.

Carried an original tool for many years (10) until the pivot points failed, switched to the Wave and carried it for 5 years until TSA confiscated it. Have had the Pulse now for about 3 years.

I carry my Leatherman tools wherever I go, even dressed up. I feel naked without it.

The Pulse is one of the larger Leatherman tools, and it sometimes is a bit heavy/bulky. I've been contemplating getting the Leatherman MUT, basically because of the long shanks on the screw driver bits. The Pulse (and new Wave) have the replaceable screw driver bits. The shanks on these bits are too short for many tasks. I'm also not real crazy about the interchangeable tool design for the file/saw.

Still have the Original Leatherman, and sent it back to get repaired. It's now my sons Leatherman.

Hmm, that is something I hadn't thought of. I have been leaning more toward the Crunch again. I was talking with my brother who has the Surge with the complete interchangeable bit set and he was saying that he hardly ever uses any of the tips except the standard phillips and flat head ones. He also is impressed with the Crunch design.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Keep it coming.

Pocket carry a juice S2 daily. Meets my need for something small enough for my pocket. Wish it had a stronger locking blade and I really don't need the scissors.

when out at 3 am for a water leak, or a power outage,,, lack of different bit has never been a problem. but having the "third hand" of a pair a vice grips has been a life saver. the "safety nazis" would have me by the short hairs, but have even used them as a wire nut to hold electric wires together in an emergency " get it going now" situation. If you check the crunch out, if you pull the adjustment screw out, you can insert an 1/4" bit driver in it, and then can have as many bits for it as you want to carry with you.

Thanks, I'll get the Crunch. That feature is exactly what I was looking for but wasn't sure it had. That alone will make it very useful for me.

Thanks everyone for you input.

Is there anything anyone dislikes about any leatherman or specifically the leatherman Crunch?

I can not speak for the Crunch ... I had the orginal, the kick, the skeleton ... I just like the general feel of the wave ... its comfortable, rounded handle, nice lock and unlock and to my surprise I really use the scissors ... cut casket material right down to bandages for the livestock when I am doctoring them. As for the length of the screwdrivers ... well I have not had that issue.

But ... ya know when you get the idea that this is the best thing ever ... well ya just believe it!!

Carry the the wave when on the land when working. I like the ability to open the blades with one hand. It is strong. I usually carry on my belt. I have had two. I lost one on a backpacking trip and liked it enough to get another. No negitives

I haven't used a crunch, but Dad has an older leatherman (cant remember the model) and I dont like using it as the edges cut into my hands when using the pliers.
I currently have an old (made in the US) Schrade Tool. The new made in China ones are trash, but the older ones were good. It is being replaced with a SOG multitool for christmas.

I have a SOG that is pretty good, Just used it tonight to tweek a wiber arm bracket. It stays in the glovebox in the truck though. My preffered multitoolk is a Gerber Multiplier... I prefered it to the leatherman I used to carry, because of the way the jaws slide out of the end of the handle. Once broken in, I could slide out the pliar jaws one handed, with the flick of my wrist... You know, you are assembling something with your hands, and you get it so far by hand, and need the pliars to finish the job. Well you have to set down what you are working on, or tuck it under your arm, or between your knees, to get both hands free to unfold to the leatherman pliars(unless they have changed the design). Then you need to pick up what you were working on(usually from the ground where it has fallen by this point:)) to finish what you started. The little folding tab on the sog allows you to open it single handed, but it is not as easy or quick as the gerber...

I have had good luck with gerbers...
