Leaking water pump

Can you plug up the weep hole in a water pump and still use it if it is OK otherwise? A local dealer wants $288 for one.

No. That is your warning that the pump is going bad. The next warning will be an overheated engine if you're lucky....or a broken shaft and a fan through the radiator if you're not lucky.

Send it to me and I will rebuild it like new for less than half the new pump price.

$288 is TOO HIGH. Bruce is right, send it to him. I have never had him do a pump for me but I have sent a pump off for rebuild and it cost me $75. Rebuild is the way to go.
