The armed services are using them to shoot down planes. Just more wattage. What ever you do, do NOT, I repeat do NOT look up the guy who was pruning his palm trees with one on youtube. We don't need that kind of press (not our unit anyway, just a cheap import model).

They are stealthy. You don't see the beam. The first thing you'd have is intense burning and smoking of the skin. It will flash burn at the contact point...but the beam itself is in the invisible light spectrum. There is a "pilot" laser of sorts which is in the visible range that is a class 1 laser that pinpoints where the main beam is focused. It's not exactly Start Wars or Star Trek like you think of blasters and phasers. Funny thing is that a camera will almost pick up the beam...but it is death on them as well.

Appreciate the expert explanation. That's way above my pay scale. I'll stick with my ole MIG.
