I was looking at an 8'

I had a 60" rake on a 16 horsepower 4WD tractor with ag tires, and it seemed to pull it pretty well. When I would pull gravel up a steep hill, if it got pretty loaded, I'd start to lose traction. I think, worst case, going too wide will lower the speed you can work at, unless it's a traction problem. And you're lowering the speed but taking fewer passes, so at worst the effects will cancel out.

If you want it for your 1025 an 8 foot rake might be a bit optimistic, if you plan to use it to it's full capacity. I'm not sure if it would work anyways without modifications as the tractor is rated as "Limited Cat 1." According to the Frontier Implements website Frontier™ Landscape Equipment | John Deere US a 5 foot rake is the biggest recommended for that tractor.

seems to me 8' is too much for your size tractor. you might consider loading your rear tires, then a 5' should be ok, anything bigger may be iffy under a full load

Enough width to cover rear tire tracks set at 45 degree angle.
