I'm considering trading my MF 1749HST cab, in for an L6060HSTCC and have been researching this particular model for any possible issues. So far I have come across a few possible ones and what appears to be a common one.

The issues I've found so far are:
1) One person that complained about a lack of power. A Youtube video of an owner with 70hrs on his machine. Looks to be a one off issue that could be a bad transmission or could be operator error.
2) Several complaints about valves leaking down. Found on a Kubota forum. It appears to be rear remotes that are being referred to but can't tell for sure.
3) Quite a few complaints of there not being a toolbox on the cab versions and some remedies for it.
4) Complaints or just comments about the fuel consumption being high. One particular comment carried a lot of weight because it was made by an owner of the L6060 who also had an M99##. He used both for the same work and found the L6060 used more fuel than the much larger tractor. I suspect that is due in part to the larger tractor not being HST and that the same engine is used in the L40hp and L60hp tractors. To get 50% more power from the same engine there would need to be a lot more air and fuel run through it.

Questions:
1) any other concerns I should be aware of?
2) anyone else have any transmission or engine problems?
3) anyone checked on the fuel consumption of their L6060. I know there is a huge difference between running around doing loader work or light duty stuff compared to using a snowblower or heavy ground engaging implements but I'm just trying to get a sense of how much of an issue this might or might not be.

I have a similar somewhat smaller L4240 HSTC(ten years and 1200 hours).This tractor is rated at 44 H.P. and uses 1.25 gallons at PTO speeds.So; 59 H.P.L6060 should use slightly more.To stay with the HST+ it is well worth the little extra fuel.No problems at all with mine.
Recently tried out a shuttle shift(New Holland) for a friend;nice but quite different.The Kubota HST is about as bullet proof as they come;stick with Kubota branded fluids.
Some operators of the HST's don't realize that you let-up on the pedal for more power;not alike a gas powered vehicle where you push down for more power.

I love my new to me 2015 1749 Massey because of the cab and the HST. I've had some issues with it and started to look at maybe getting a new 1749 with full warranty for a $10,000 bump or spend even more and get more hp on a new tractor with full warranty. There are no new Massey 1758 cab HST tractors in my Province that I or my dealers can find so I'm considering the Kubota L6060 because of the 6 speed HST. But there will be a big price difference. My hope is that I won't have any issues with a new tractor but I believe that could be a crap shoot. Seems that every brand has their supporters who have had no problems and those that have experienced problems, some small and some major.

When I got the 1749 I sure didn't expect to run into issues with a tractor that only has 200hrs on it and yet I have. Luckily I caught the first one before closing on the tractor and got it fixed as part of the purchase price. Then I had some more repairs and there are still some issues. It could be something simple but the dealer hasn't found it yet and I'm at the point where I have to decide whether to spend more money on this tractor to get it fixed properly (at some unknown cost) or bite the bullet and get new. So far I have over $2,000 into this tractor for repairs and maintenance and I've only had a month.

I think the days of getting something new and knowing it will work as it should may be gone. That's the reason for asking questions about a specific model before buying, so I can go armed with some knowledge about the potential issues. As the Massey service manager said to me "getting a new tractor doesn't guarantee you won't have problems it only guarantees that you will get them fixed at no cost during the warranty".

That ChuckE vid would suggest there is too much fluid in the tranny but maybe not.

I just watched a Messiks video about the L6060 and there are some features I like better on the Massey and some I like better on the Kubota. The Massey has stall guard and auto throttle built in. No buttons to select those features. The HST response and speed controls are little knobs to the left of the driver. I prefer that much more than having to cycle through a bunch of video displays to find the feature I want to change and then figure out which "mode number" I want. But the Kubota has more PTO hp and 6 a speed HST vs a 3 speed.

The search for information continues.

I have a L4060HSTC. Same machine minus 20hp. Slightly smaller tires & front axle. Mine is only 200-300lbs lighter due to the smaller engine.

1) I'm in Colorado so my lack of oxygen makes my machine run like a L3560. I want more hp running a 8' flail mower & driving on roads. Otherwise it's a good power match to traction. I'm not disappointed in the power at all. A HST eats up 15% of your HP, but I think the usability is worth it.

2) the rear remotes suck. Had 2 replaced, need to have a 3rd replaced (still under warranty). My tilt cylinder will extend all the way in an hour, top use to take a couple hours. Worst part of the tractor by far. Kubota should be discusted by the rear valves on their premium tractor. The loader valves are fine.

3) there is a small pocket next to the seat. Not really any good place to mount a toolbox. I need to make the pipe toolbox that fits in the loader mount tubing for mine some day.

4) I burn a little over a gallon per hour working it hard, under a gallon an hour if it's not pushed. I think it's the same 2.4l engine, but the bigger machines get a turbo & intercooler.

#2 HST+ spoils you. They seem to be as reliable as a geared machine more or less.

The computer interface for the dash is horrible... 1 button to control 500 functions is just asinine. Put a knob to scroll through functions at least. The HST response is just one of those functions. JD had a nice knob dedicated to responsiveness. In reality I just set it once & forgot about it. I'd probably fiddle with responsiveness a but if it were an easy knob, but probably not to much.

Stall guard is one of the million functions on the 1 button. But you just turn it on once & leave it that way. I see no reason to mess with it.

Auto throttle has it's own button. I messed with it a bit, then left it off. I manually work the throttle when needed & run the go pedal separately. I do a lot of mowing in brush, so I want the RPMs high, but need to vary travel speed.

HST+ has 6 speeds, but you mostly only use 4. But the 2 speed shift on the fly in medium range covers 75% of your needs. Every HST tranny sucks to shift, every one. 2 speed in medium means rarely ever having to shift that clunker tranny.

To the OP, Kubota doesn't make hydraulic cylinders, so the ones on it may well be used on other brands. My brother makes his own using parts from surplus center. I bought my last one from Fit-Rite; works great. Unless you get them with a check valve, expect a bit of leak down. Most find it acceptable as it is very slow. I know just enough to be dangerous, so check for threads by MtnviewRanch nd other posters.

For a tool box, I use to just roll them up like a motorcycle or older cars and put it behind my seat, but I no longer bother.

Fuel consumption: I've never checked fuel use on a tractor in my life and never will; when it needs it, I fill it up so can't say.

As for the video, I sure wouldn't want to advertise I put up with that so long and sure wouldn't accept "they all do it". I had a leak on one of our new tractors, they sent a technician out the next day for a field repair, but it had to be put in the shop and it was back in less than a week. We have had our M8540HDC for quite a few years with nothing wrong, had an L5030HTC, no problems and no issues with my L5740HSTC with nothing beyond the initial leak.

Thanks Guys. Lots of good feedback and I'll respond when I get back from town. Just waiting for the wife to get ready and then we are off to the city and possibly make a deal on an L6060.

To keep from forgetting something, I "Build My Kubota" print it off and take it with me. Probably take some zofran as spending large sums of money makes me feel sick. Good luck.
