Boost it and Lose!
I know it's me again with another question,

I bought a new 5 ton dump wagon to pull with my L3940. The dump wagon has a hitch hole size of 1.2 inches and the pin needs to be about 6 inches long. My tractor drawbar hole size makes little sense to me as it is not a uniform size. It measures .987 or 25.069 mm. One would think that Kubota selling this machine in the US would have a standard size hole in the hitch. Why would Kubota not allow a 1 inch pin to fit through the hole? I don't think 25mm is a standard size for a drawbar.

Thanks for looking, Fred

Its probbaly so that a 7/8 (0.875) pin fits in and can wiggle around.

Here's a good document on hitch pins and towing trailers. As stated I think your drawbar is designed for 7/8" pin, that's what I use.

I may be wrong, but believe the draw bar is sized for a standard 7/8" (0.875") lynch pin rather than a tow ball. I have seen several 3pt receiver attachments like this one that may solve your dilemma.

Handi Hitch For Cat. 1, With Clevis & 1-7/8 & 2 Balls

The 3pt can get lifted by a heavy trailer in certain circumstances, usually exacerbating a bad situation. Center gravity goes from below the rear axle to above it. Think wheelies resulting in your tractor riding your trailer upside down.

Be careful with those pulling heavier trailers of on other than smooth level ground.

Thanks for the great info and looksee. My trailer is a Taylor-Pittsburgh model 4000 5ton and the hitch is elongated to allow for uphill and downhill flexing of the hitch. I'll snap a picture after this weather leaves us. Too cold out there tonight. I picked up a 7/8" x 6.5 pin at Traitor Supply and it is very sloppy. I'll have to figure something out.

Finally got it figured out. I used different size pins but a 1 inch pin fit the hitch best so the uphill/downhill slot worked.

Then I enlarged the drawbar from .987 to over an inch, what a time I had enlarging this thing must be heat treated. Had to use the old Sunnen line hone from 1955 to enlarge.

I guess tractor stuff is not too precise but there's a reason.

Can't wait to beat this thing and fill it full of wood, dirt, whatever.

The trailer is store bought LOL. I can't say enough good about the way it is built; very rugged. I toyed with building one but the cost of my time and not knowing the outcome was enough to persuade me to buy a real one. I looked high and low for a used Pronovost but couldn't find one that wasn't priced almost as much as a new one. This one is made by Taylor-Pittsburgh.

I have some off road trails I need to gravel and lots off wood to cut.
