That the dealer could not really answer. Not supre impressed with the sales person at the local Kubota dealer, but price and service seem competitve. If the can locate a L3400 HST - looks like I will be buying.

But first - A couple of quesitons that those in the know out there may be able to answer.

- On the "Build your Kubota" section for the L3400, they list a dealer-option is a "Three Point stabilizer kit". Anyone know what this is? Is it better than the silly rubber band that holds the hitch bars togher? Salesperson had no idea.

- When I asked about the change in removing the over-running PTO clutch, he said that no chnages have been made. I am referring to the HST model. I seem to have read the overrunnign option has been changed. Is there anyone out there that can straighten this out?
Thanks very much, and have a Happy New Year. Gary

The PTO clutch cam was improved a couple of years ago on the HST models because there were a few failures. However, anything sitting in dealer stock right now should be the newest version unless it is used or extremely old inventory.

I love my L3400HST.

I do not know what your options are but find a good dealer. You will be working with them for years to come.

That rubber band thing is a good thing to have. You will learn that the lower link bars move in and out a lot. The bungie cord keeps the arms out of the tires.

The PTO over run will be taken care of if it is a newer tractor. Find out what the manufacture date is. I cannot quote the date Kubota fixed it.

The 3 point stabilizer kit replaces the turnbuckle adjustment that controls the width and sideways movement of your 3 point lift arms. I am looking into converting my turnbuckles to the telescoping arms that come with this kit. If I am reading tractorsmart's parts list right, it appears the kit is around $128. I will be calling them tomorrow to confirm. It would be nice to have the telescoping arms and not have to deal with the turnbuckles.

Thank you West - I was hoping that is what the 3 pt kit was. List price on the site is $149, So I suspect it could be had for less.

If you would happen to have a part number - thank you in advance.!

Part Number is TC020-39700, description "Assy Stabilizer" I just went ahead and ordered one from tractorsmart.com. Price was $125.11 plus $12.75 shipping to my location.

I should mention that my 3400 is a DT... but I assume this part would be the same for the HST model also.

Do you have R1 tires or R4's? I'd like to know how this kit works with the R4's. I was told that it might not work well with R4's since there is so little space between the fenders and tires. I got a 1" spacer kit for mine and the guys at tractorsmart I would probably need it for the telescopic stabilizers to work.

I also have the R4's... I am going to call tractorsmart to see if I need anything else..

HOLD ON!!!!! I just spoke with tractorsmart, and the $125.11 part number only includes ONE stabilizer bar (even though the part book description shows quantity "2"). It's not worth $250 plus shipping for me, so I will continue to use the turnbuckles!!!!

That doesn't sound right. I am changing from the turnbuckle style to the telescoping arms on my B7610. I got the kit for about $130.00 from tractorsmart (that included both stabilizers). I dealt with Ronnie and he was very helpful. Doesn't seem like the ones for an L series would be twice as much.

WOW! I looked into getting the kit about a year ago and I was sure it was right around $130. Did you ask them if you would need wheel spacers to use the telescopic stabilizers?

UPDATE:

Ronnie at tractorsmart referred me to another number (Kubota dealer), but anyway I was able to order the "kit" from them for $160 plus shipping... the kit part number is L8430. It seems that "parts" ie. Ronnie, is different from "kits" ie. Fred at the second number. Kind of like ordering a car with a certain option, or adding it after the fact... the "parts" to add it later always costs more than the original option (kit in this case). At any rate, I was told that the kit price was $149, but the price had just increased to $160.

I did not think to ask if wheel spacers would be needed with the R4's, but looking at the current setup, I don't see where it would require any more clearance than the existing turnbuckle arrangement does.... I will keep you posted.

By the way... folks at tractorsmart are very helpful and pleasant to deal with... I would highly recommend them...

If you could, would you take picture of your new arms when you get them installed? Hooked up to an implement would be great. I'm just curious how much room you will have between the tires and stabilizer arms. I know with mine, if I hooked up to a 26" implement, I only had about .75" between the tires and turnbuckles. That's why I got the spacers. I may have to spring for the telescopic stabilizers if they fit OK on yours. Thanks.

Shipped UPS yesterday... scheduled delivery date of 1/14. It may be the following weekend before I have a chance to try them out. I will post pics as soon as I get it installed.

Let's have it Westbrooklawn. What's the outcome? How did the stabilizers fit?

Finally got them installed... very easy. I am very satisfied with the conversion. I was concerned that they might not clear my BH80-X subframe, but that was no problem. The tire clearance is about 1" on each side, but that is about the same as it was with the turnbuckle arms... I just think that is an issue you need to live with when using R4's on this tractor.
