Well talked to someone from Kubota today about the 3 point shudder problem , the guy said where did you hear about the fix from .
I told him I seen it on Tractorbynet.com , he said in a sarcastic way , "What a place to be getting information from" .
So now he tells me that Kubota is calling it a "upgrade" and that all new tractors with the new valve had a price increase to cover the cost of the new valve .
So just like Ford who told me once , "We are aware of the problem but we are not calling it a problem" , problem .
I asked what division handled my area he said , Central .
More to come .

Sounds like you're dealing with someone who does not embrace technology. My father gave me some very good food for thought when I was younger and I quote,"Don't ever think that you are so good that you can't be replaced, there is always someone smarter, faster, stronger, better looking, etc."The list goes on and on.The guy your dealing with could use this advice.I too have ran into that problem with Ford, had to do with head gaskets on a 1992 t-bird.......

So how many people have had the 3 point jerking and valve taken care of by their dealer ?

I had my L3400HST fixed. Much better after the fix. I just called the local dealer and explained the issue, telling him I heard there was a fix available, and he looked it up and confirmed the fix. I had it done at the 50 hour service, since it save me some bucks on the service (the paid for the tranny fluid as part of the repair). I had to pay for the trailer ride into town however.

How old is your tractor? I bought my 2800 last fall. It had the new valve from the factory.

I Purchased my L2800 in May 05 and had it fixed in June 05. I had read of the fix here on TBN and told my dealer of it and they researched it and fixed my tractor without any hassles.

I'm not sure when they made the change , but the newer tractors are susposed to have the new valve already installed at the factory. My L2800 was bought in June of 2005 and I had the valve changed shortly after I got it. It made a world of difference and it didn't cost me anything. Had the hydro oil increase update also. Longer fill tube and dip stick.

It seems that Kubota has changed their position on the fix and are calling it a upgrade and I was just trying to see how many were fixed before the so called upgrade status came about .
So if you had it repaired post reply .
Thanks .

Had mine fixed within the first two hours of operation. Now the machine is two years old. If it was not fixed the tractor was going back. I don't know how your dealer could not be aware of the issue. They sometimes get a little testy when you tell them how to fix your tractor but it is "your" tractor and needs to operate properly.

Good luck and don't be afraid to call a Kubota rep. Brian

I called my dealer an hour after mine was delivered in June of 2005. They sent a mechanic to my place and he said that it was not right. They researched it an fixed it free within a week. A good dealer is like gold.

I had my L3400HST replaced last spring. The dealer had never heard of it, he did some research and fixed it no charge. A guy I work with had his L2800HST fixed last week in Alabama, no charge.

My dealer replaced the valve on my L3400DT after I bought it. Works better now but still not silky smooth.

I bought my L3400HST in April 06. I was ticked off to find the problem because I had advised them of this issue when I made the purchase.

Heck I pointed it out on the L2800HST I test drove on their lot.

I double checked when they said they were ready to deliver and they said - "yes your tractor came with the fix from the factory".

Tractor gets delivered and a day after I realise - heck this thing is shuddering like crazy!. Gave them heck. They got a Kubota rep to my farm. He knew all about the problem and had a printout about it.

He claimed that I should have had the new valve from the factory but it didn't look like I did. They took it in and got me the valve.

The Kubota rep. did claim that this was an "economy" tractor and so they were not obliged to fix it but since I had asked for the fix before purchasing it it would be done. Glad I didn't have to beat them over the head for it.

The valve is MUCH smoother now. I imagine it is not as good as the Grand L valves... it still seems to move in discrete increments - probably 1/4" if you ask me but not 1" like it did on the old valve.

Other than issue - I've had no trouble with the tractor.

Whenever they say "Economy" about the L2800 and L3400 is really burns my *#@&. We paid good money for these tractors and expecting that the 3pt and the pto's work properly is not unrealistic. Heck, I still think they are pretty nice. My tractor and a couple implements cost more than my last new car and everything on it works just great. Honda Accord if it matters.

Just had to vent a little. Brian

Glad to hear that my L2800 isn't the only one with this problem. I bought it with 23hrs on it and while test driving it on the lot without an implement behind it, PTO raised and lowered just fine. Once I got it home and hooked up to my Land Pride 72" finish mower the sheddering was happening. Thanks to you guys I reaserched this problem on this site, went to the dealer and told them about this and they were aware of the problem. Told me to bring it in next week before I go on vacation and it would be ready by the time I get back. Also told them about my light switch that seems to be shorting out. Again, dealer tells me that they will fix it all under the mfg warranty. Will let you know how it goes.

Same here!.. on both fronts. Drives me nuts when they say 'economy' and mine cost more than my last new car (also Honda Accord).

To be honest I still think this is a great machine and the best value in this size. Will chat on the other thread about the PTO issue. I've been doing some thinking after reading that thread and after my first initial response. I have a feeling that the PTO worries have been amplified wrt. the over running clutch. I cannot believe that Kubota did not do 100s of hours of testing with this PTO design and various implements like tillers. It may be that the newer design is better but that does not necessarily mean that the older design is just an impending failure. I strongly suspect that the OP on that thread just got a lemon - which unfortunately happens from time to time.

Can someone who has had the valve replaced and has a Invoice from the Dealer tell me what they list the repair as ?

Thanks GM

I had the valve replaced but I can't find the repair order. The dealer seemed to have no problem getting the valve and installing it. It is night/day between the two. The first job I ever did with my tractor was post holes. As you could imagine a jerky 3pt. and loose dirt on an auger bit does not make a very good hole. I really don't understand how these tractors went out the door that way and then did so for so long. It even was a pain to use a box scraper. I will look again for the repair order. I know I have it or maybe someone else does. Brian
