L 3240 HST

I've been using a 6' Deere Brush Hog on my L2900 for 7 years and never felt the 29 HP was inadequate. I've cleared areas where the vegetation was at deck level. In places like that, running slow is prudent because there are hidden hazards.
With my new L3240, I cleared a firing range on the back of our place that has not been cut in many years. I felt the power to be more than adequate, but I did need to cut in both directions, up and down to be sure that all the vegitation and small trees were cut.

One of my co-workers has a 3240 GST and pulls a 6' cutter no problem. I just picked up my 3240 over the weekend and will be looking for a 6' cutter as well. I was on the fence but I guess I can always cut less than 6' wide if necessary. I don't plan on letting the grass get very high between cuttings anyway.

I have a 5ft cutter on my L3240 GST and have not bogged it down BUT I can see a 6ft might.. Also one thing to remember is that a 6ft will be wider than the tractor sits so for me thats a big disadvantage when cutting around trees. If they tractor goes in between them then the cutter will follow..:thumbsup: I have AG tires..

Are you referring to the Cruise Control or the foot pedal?

I have been able to mow 4 foot field grass in 3rd or 4th gear at PTO speed with my L3240GST and a 5 foot hog. I think it would run a 6 footer at that speed in 2 to 3 foot high grass. The 5 foot deck is very maneuverable, making mowing between trees around field edges easy. The shortie also keeps the CG a little closer to the rear axle for good balance.
