I have a Kubota B2650 which struggles in 8 inches of snow. It has an agricultural type tire. Anyone have suggestions for chains vs tire weights? I appreciate any thoughts.

I use ice chains and rear tires are loaded plus rear blade only need 4wd 5 times.

I use chains (2 link ladder type) on my B2620 with R4 tires (not loaded)....using the rear blade and the FEL for removal of snow. That works for me.

Cheers,
Mike

Chains on the rear wheels.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. There seems to be only about 2-21/2" clearance between the tire and the forward edge of the fender. Is that enough clearance to avoid damaging the tractor? Any point in chains on the front tires where there is more clearance?

Reading on TBN IIRC,,,,,,some do put chains on the front......some put chains only on the front........It must depend on one's exact situation. And...I suppose it depends on the type of chain .. People on hilly terrain....people in snow belts .....the size of the tractor and the size of the job. etc. also make a difference.

Cheers,
Mike

If you can purchase wheel spacers for your mules rear tires/rims you will be able to use rear snow and ice tire chains more effectively. You should seriously invest in some liquid ballast like windshield washer fluid for the rear tires and you will not need front chains.

Thank you everyone for all of your great ideas. Since we're scheduled for snow 3 days this week, we will put them to good use immediately.

Just to be on the safe side I had wheel spacers put on rear in case I decided to change chain style...also chain tighteners.
