Mowing KUBOTA RCK6024B MOWER PROBLEM!!!!!!!

Close up of left side showing hook and bracket detail. It is just a couple of simple 3/8" hooks I bought at the hardware store and some angle iron. The hooks can be adjusted for height. The holes to mount the angle iron brackets were already in the frame of the tractor. I mow at 3". If I ever want to raise or lower that height I can adjust it with the chain links and or the threads on the hooks. Simple. That's the way I like it.

So what you are saying is that my bx's deck is different from the one for your B3030 in that yours actually is designed to have its wheels in ground contact, that the deck is not suspended?

I think I like your solution. My ZT mower (Exmark 60", diesel) does not have a truly suspended deck and I have complained to Exmark that it tends to cut unevenly in areas of bumpy ground. My BX-2200 and deck (60" also) never seemed to have that problem.

Also, do I correctly understand you to say that with removing some of the wheels on your mower (rear?) that it has become easier to remount the mower after removing? Neither my Kubota nor my JD will say that it is an easy job to do so with stock configs. I have feared taking off the MMM on my BX because of that.

Deere dealer spoke of a new "drive over" deck, but it apparently is only available with a few decks so far.

Since we are weighing the possibility of trading our BX on a B3030 (or JD 3320), I will keep your thread marked! Thanks,

Jim

The BX mowers, both the 54" & 60" are fully suspended mowers. When properly adjusted the 4 anti-scalp wheels should be approx 1/2" off the ground at whatever depth setting the mower is set to. They should never be in full contact with the ground. Haveing the fully suspended deck was the clincher for me going with a BX23 over a B7610 as mowing is my machines primary function.

As for R&R'ing the mower on a BX. It's very easy. It takes me approx 10 minutes to do either. I don't need any tools either. I take it off during the winter and use those mower-axles to store it upright. Makes servicing of the deck much easier also.

Set the depth guage to the lowest setting, turn the anti-scalp wheels from front to rear to side to side. Lower the mower. Disconnect the front mount then disconnect the mower from the lift arms by pulling the lock pins back to disconnect them from the mower. Disconnect the PTO then roll the mower out. A 54" will roll straight out whilst the 60" has to roll out at an angle. Reverse the proceedure to mount. It's really very easy and gets easier with practice. I changed out those round locking clips on the anti scalp wheels to straight pins with the curved locking clip, same type of clip used to lock a trailor hitch, and they make adj'ing the anti-scalp wheels a piece of cake.

With the exception of the B7510 Turf Special which uses a BX style fully suspended deck, the B series tractors all use ground contact MMM'ers.
I like Toolguys solution. Looks like it's just what the grass-doctor ordered /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The day may come when when I'm tool'n around the humble abode in an air conditioned fully appointed B3030 and I'll definitely keep his mod in mind if/when that day happens /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Got your two pics there ToolGuy... thanks.
If I have this right... the rear of the mower is suspended from the tractor by your chain/hook design, which is what I'll be doing, and I take it that the front corners of the mower will be in direct contact with the ground with it's original swivel type wheels, which do not seem to dig into the soft turf as did the two center rear ones.

Campman, You are correct. The chains hold up the rear and the front wheels carry the weight of the front of the mower. To get the chain adjustment right I adjusted the hooks with the upper nuts until the weight was just off of the rear wheels. Then, I tightened the lower nuts to lock the hooks in place. The mounting point of the chains is in line with the links that raise and lower the mower via the 3PTH. The chains limit the amount the links allow the mower to be lowered. They can also be repositioned to hold the mower up while using a 3PT implement. I am very pleased with this setup and believe it would work on any mower of this type. Here is a pic of with my 3PT lawn vacuum attached.

Another question for ya ToolGuy. I really have not looked into the vac situation but with all the clippings that seem to pile up if I wait too long between cuts because of rain etc. That vas system do you have and how well does it work?
Thanks in advance

I like it a lot. What appealed to me was the ease of dumping it when it gets full. I bought it as a pull type model for my JD318. When I bought the Kubota I converted it to 3PTH which is much better now that I have a tractor big enough to handle it. When I bought it was called an EASY RAKE. It is now sold as a Bluebird. Here is a link. web page

The chain fix sounds good.Just some added info.at least on b7510 and my b7610 the rck60 75b floating deck requires running rear tires adjusted in to keep from hitting anti scalp wheels.Loader work, with tires narrow seems a bit unsafe.Dealer, said remove mmm and move tires to wide stance to use loader.I got the rck60 24b non floating(ground contact)mmm. No tire clearance problem with this deck, set tires wide an there they stay(for me)Chain fix sounds great! I may try this if I have your problem. I am new member to TBN(First post).New b7610,la352 loader, mmm, rear angle blade, weight box.So much info,FRIENDLY people, super web site!Love my new tractor.Sorry for rambling.

That would be a real pain if you had to remove the MMM and widen the rear wheels everytime you want to use the loader. I couldn't live with that, either. I just leave the MMM on most of the time except in the winter. If I want to use the loader it is so easy to put on and take off it is almost fun to do. I park the tractor and loader in the same spot everytime. If I want to mow, the loader stays. If I want use it I hook up the hoses before starting the engine and while it is warming up I attach the rest of it. The ease of mounting and dismounting the loader is what makes a CUT so useful.
