Ed,
My farm is just outside of Crossville. I bought my M7060HD12 last year from Plateau Kubota. My property (93 acres) sounds similar to your in that I have some pasture and some areas that need reclamation. I purchased the ROPS model as I have too many trees that I have to mow around/under to even consider a cab. I also went with an extra remote, filled tires, cast wheels and the wider R1 tires. As for implements, I purchased a LP 3584 box blade, Titan 1606 rotary cutter and an
Everything Attachments 7500HD auger.
As for the tractor, the shuttle shift is OK but not as precise as HST. I was cutting on some pretty steep hills last week and there was some pucker factor shuttling b/t forward and reverse on the hills. I definitely needed good brakes when getting to the end of the field. I traded HP for HST. I considered the MX5800 as well as it would have suited my needs as well. The 7060 is decent on fuel. However, in the 37 hours of use, it's tended to regen about every 12-15 hours.
As for implements, I cannot recommend Titan cutters nor the dealer I purchased from (not Plateau Kubota). The dealer delivered the cutter on a trailer behind a car and had no idea how to setup once delivered. Never said anything about adjusting the slip clutch which was needed after delivery. The cutter came to me with no shaft guard, stripped threads where grease fittings fell out and just isn't as durable as advertised. I opted for the chain guards and have already bent those mowing to the point the chain is making contact with the blades. For $700 more, I could have gone with Bush Hog brand which is what I should have done. Moral of the story, stay with top tier products as you get what you pay for.
Good luck with your purchase. I'm interested in hearing what you decide.
