i have resently purchased a kubota l2002 , i am looking to buy a slasher for it , it has a 4 speed pto ,can anyone tell me what speed i would need to run a slasher at . thanks

Most rear implements are made to run at 540 PTO RPM. There is usually a mark on your tach to indicate what engine RPM provides 540 PTO RPM.

You can run at lower speeds, but unless the load is very light, PTO speed is best.

Since you called it a slasher, I'd dare to guess that you may be from Australia? England?
It could be that there are slashers built for those markets that are designed to operate at a higher RPM than those designed for US consumption, which is 540 RPM.
You should assure that you know the proper speed for that particular mower, because over revving may lead to overheating and ruination of the gear box.

on the tech it does show a section marked pto 1 540 , does the number 1 mean that in gear selection 1 at that rev range as marked ,the pto is at 540 rpm thanks . oh by the way i thourgh i had bought myself a fun little toy , by the 4 th day [after one **** of a scare] i found some new respect for my little kubota . thanks again

PTO selector 1 will give you 540. It doesn't matter which transmission gear you're in.
Don't you have a numbered lever to choose which PTO speed you want? I'm sure the tach reference 1/540 means to choose #1 on the selector and set the RPM at that mark.
