Does anyone have a cure for the extremely rough ride on the 2006 Kubota GR2100. The seat, once you sit on it is metal to metal. There are no springs for the operator only a single, centered, weak spring for the seat switch. This spring will only hold the seat off the switch when no one is sitting on the seat. Also the front axle seems to have very limited travel/movement. My yard is not golf course smooth, but not very rough either. By the time I'm through mowing (approx. 2.5 acres) my back is sore and my kidneys hurt. I do not have this problem with a Scott S2554. I used my buddies 2006 Cub Cadet GT3100 w/54" deck and it rode like a dream. I might add that the Cub Cadet also left a better looking, smoother cut. However the Cub Cadet was not near as manueverable, leaving a whopping 72" uncut circle of grass. It also has a very limited lift on the deck making the transition from one area to another( yard to driveway) very hard on the deck and wheels. This is my first time, so pardon me if I'm in the wrong place or doing this wrong. Feel free to set me straight or contact me 251-945-1966.

George you are in the right place and turn your knob " counter-clockwise" following the directional arrow at the front of the seat to soften up the ride. Check the air pressure in your tires too. Only put 18 psi in your rear tires. If these two things don't work for you look for other reason as to why you are having such a problem. My GR2110 rides good with a 54" deck. Your gas version should too.

OB1, the GR2100 is a Diesel. I believe it is pretty much the same tractor as the GR2110, except they improved the transmission (and possibly other things) on the GR2110.

For a nice ride I like about 10 lbs of air in the rear tires. I've run them as low as six but you will need to tube them.

This is the third time I have written this reply. Logged in but will not post. Any suggestions on Kubota GR2100, diesel/54 inch. rough ride. Tried tire pressure in 2 lb increments. Only made it worse, more bounce. Problem is back and forth, not up and down. No seat springs, like in the G2160 and GR2110. Does anyone know if the GR2110 seat sub-assembly will fit the GR2100? I suspicion the front axle has extremely limited travel and that when it encounters irregularities it quickly strikes the frame thereby transmitting the force immediately and violently through the unsuspended seat. This causes a whipping motion side to side. Tempted to grind another half inch off frame to attempt to get more travel. Other riding mowers have one to to inches of clearance btween their cast iron axles and the frame. The GR2100 only has a half of an inch. Air seat?

Thanks

The G2100 is gas, they are the exact same tractor except the G2110 is diesel driven, the seats are the same. George take your tractor back to the Dealer before you modify anything on that front drive axle. The articulation rates on the glidesteer needs this tight clearance for the quick turning radius. Cutting or grinding the frame for clearance could make it unstable on a hill taking a shape turn. There has to be another reason for your discomfort on this seat. It must be defective. Surely your warranty will cover this.

Kubota Tractor Corporation - Prior Tractor Models

According to this page on Kubota's site, the GR2000 is gas, the GR2100 is Diesel. The GR2010/GR2110 replaced these two. The GR2010 is gas, the GR2110 is Diesel.

You are absolutely right I stand corrected this was the first model run. I own a 2110 S/N 11263 P/N K1272-40001. This first series tractor the 2100 had severe transmission issues and possible seat recall like the BX series experienced. George needs to see his Dealer for help on this one IMHO.

George,

Did you ever modify your gr2100 seat? I also have a gr2100 and would like to make modifications to mine as well. You are right..............the ride is very "jarring" when mowing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Get yourself one of those nice, cushy B series seats thru a dealer or ebay. They're made to accept the armrest kit too.Nice upgrade.I like mine on the GR2000.It's a direct bolt on fit.I also ran 1/2" angle iron back on each side and pinned the seat down solid to eliminate the sloppy rocking motion caused by the flimsy single front pivot/hinge.

Does the seat your describe have suspension? It has the same bolt pattern as the GR2000 seat?

About how much will the upgrade seat cost?

Thanks

Assume you're tallking to me. Seats have no suspension.Seats are comprised of a pan, padding, and cover.Seat suspension on the original GR series like mine is nothing more than a block of rubber sandwiched between a double-hinge mechanism. The newer 2110/2010 series is much improved using an adjustable spring suspension. The seat on mine came from an online Kubota dealer out east. This seat was the "good will" seat available to Kubota dealers for a very low cost to give away or sell cheaply to customers that complained of the nasty slide-off seat that came standard on the BX series tractors.I paid around 80 for it,and another 60-80 for the armrest kit. It's thicker,so it sets up a little higher.I already said the bolt pattern is a direct fit.Huge improvement in comfort.

Messicks may still have some,don't know;

I don't know if this would work on your tractor but I remember reading on this site where someone put a tube from a wheel barrow under their tractor seat and inflated it with air. It was said to make a big difference. A tube could likely be bought for less than $10.00.

Been there, done that, and also tried harley seat springs.Tube got pinched and the springs just didn't work.Only way to fix it right would be to replace the whole suspension assembly with the new design.I'll check and see what it costs.

Stopped by the dealer today. The whole suspension substructure is around $600.Ouch!
